Dalljiet Kaur has been grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, ever since she dropped her husband, Nikhil Patel’s surname from her social media handle. Thereafter, what has ensued is a public blame-game between the estranged couple. It was in March 2023 when Dalljiet and Nikhil tied the knot, shortly after which the diva and her son, Jaydon shifted their base to Kenya. Shockingly, it was by January 2024 when preliminary reports suggested that Dalljiet returned to India with her son, indicating her separation from Nikhil.
It was a few days back when Nikhil Patel, in a shocking revelation during an interview, revealed that he would take legal action against Dalljiet, if she was to continue accusing him wrongfully of extramarital affair through her social media posts. He issued a cease and desist letter against the actress. And now, merely days after his decision, Dalljiet Kaur took to her IG stories and dropped a snapshot of her mangalsutra as well as her wedding ring. While she didn’t pen any caption, Dalljiet’s choice of a music titled ‘Reality’ seemed to indicate that her wedding was real and legal, in contrast to the claims made by Nikhil.

In an earlier interview with ETimes, Nikhil Patel opened up about his side of the story, and discussed how and when issues started to crop up between him and Dalljiet’s relationship. He mentioned that the actress found it difficult to adjust in Kenya, and the fact that she considered returning to India led to their separation. Moreover, he shockingly revealed how their wedding was just according to cultural beliefs, and that it wasn’t legally binding. In his words:
“In January this year, Dalljiet decided to leave Kenya with her son Jaydon and return to India, which ultimately led to our separation. We both realized that the foundation of our blended family wasn't as strong as we had hoped, making it hard for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya. In March 2023, we held an Indian wedding ceremony in Mumbai. Though it held cultural significance, it was not legally binding. This ceremony was intended to reassure Dalljiet’s family about her move to Kenya. Despite our efforts, Dalljiet found it challenging to adjust to life in Kenya, missing her career and life in India. The complexities of our family dynamics became increasingly apparent."
In yet another interaction with a leading daily, Nikhil Patel issued a cease and desist notice against Dalljiet Kaur, in response to the actress proclaiming on the social media that he had been involved in an extramarital affair, which is completely untrue. Moreover, he mentioned that his team has reached out to Dalljiet and has asked her to collect all her belongings remaining in Kenya earliest by June 2024, post which he will voluntarily hand them over to charity.

Back on May 28, 2024, Dalljiet Kaur took to her IG stories and shared a picture of her current situation in life. The snapshot was of her room, where one could spot several bags lying around haphazardly, as well as an unkempt suitcase overflowing with disorderly clothes. Expressing the struggles of her life as she literally lived her life out of a suitcase, Dalljiet penned:
“Life in a suitcase… 4 months and counting!”
