Rashtrapati Bhavan is among the significant structures in the country, as it is the residence of India's President, Droupadi Murmu. The entire structure is spread across 200,000 square feet on a 300-acre estate. Rashtrapati Bhavan has 340 rooms across four floors, and Sir Edwin Lutyens designed it. Apart from luxurious rooms and halls, Rashtrapati Bhavan also comprises the Gantantra Mandap, Ashoka Mandap, a copper-faced dome, Amrit Udyan, and a museum. For the uninitiated, the first Indian who lived in Rashtrapati Bhavan was C. Rajagopalachari, after he was sworn in as the Governor-General in 1948. Over the years, we have seen many high-profile international political personalities coming to India and staying at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In 2025, Rashtrapati Bhavan broke into headlines when it was reported that a wedding would take place at the President House on February 12, 2025. In the beginning, many people dismissed it as a mere rumour, however soon, the media confirmed it and reported that two CRPF officers were set to get married at Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to a report in ETV Bharat, Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, Poonam Gupta, is going to be the first person ever to get married at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

For the uninitiated CRPF officer, Poonam Gupta is posted as PSO at the President House and during the 74th Republic Day Parade, she was the one who led the all-women contingent. The esteemed officer is going to get married to CRPF Assistant Commandant, Avnish Kumar this month. Poonam's fiance, Avnish, is stationed in Jammu & Kashmir, and their wedding will be attended only by their respective families. The wedding is going to take place inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex.

According to a report in ETV Bharat, Droupadi Murmu approved Poonam's request to get married at Rashtrapati Bhavan due to her dedication, professionalism, and strict code of conduct during her service.

CRPF officer, Poonam Gupta is quite active on Instagram, and it will be interesting to see whether she will be allowed to share her wedding pictures or not. Apart from being an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, she is also a Mathematics graduate and English Literature postgraduate. Not only this, Poonam also completed a B.Ed degree from Gwalior's Jiwaji University. To become an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, Poonam secured 81st rank in the UPSC CAPF Exam back in 2018.
