Pooja Bhatt is one of the most talented actresses in the Hindi film industry. The actress won hearts with her amazing performances in several movies like Sadak, Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi, Junoon, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, and Border, among others. While she was one of the most celebrated actresses of her time, she took a long break after her marriage to Manish Makhija in 2003. After the same, she was caught in alcoholism. In a recent interview, Pooja talked about the same and revealed that one text she got from her father, Mahesh Bhatt, that stopped her from touching alcohol ever again.
In an interview with Zoom, Pooja Bhatt revealed how her father, Mahesh Bhatt saved her from alcoholism. She mentioned that her father never actually directly asked her to quit alcohol, but he sent a message, wherein he stated that the actress has to love herself if she loves her father, as he only lives in the actress. Pooja shared that this one message gave her salvation for a new beginning, and she didn't touch alcohol for eight years. Pooja can be quoted as saying:

"All this wouldn’t have been possible if my father hadn’t sent me a message. And the message was very simple. ‘Pooja, if you love me, then love yourself because I live in you.’ This message changed my life. My father never asked me to quit alcohol. But this message gave me salvation and a new beginning. It’s been eight years since I haven’t touched a single drop of alcohol.”
Going further in the interview, Pooja Bhatt talked about the shame associated with alcoholism. She shared how one can never get over the dark phase if one hides and lies about their habits related to addiction. She also talked about her upcoming show, wherein they will talk about their dark phases due to addiction and how they got over with the same. Pooja also stated that their show would feature perspectives from both genders. Pooja can be quoted as saying:
"Women who hide and lie and drink, how will they open up and recover? That’s why I thought it was very important that if we do a show where Bhatt and I dissect our own frailties and addictive personalities. And tell people how we came out of that darkness. It was important that both the male and female perspectives were presented to people. Because it’s not just a man’s property. It’s not just a woman’s property.”
At the trailer launch event of the book, Unchain My Heart, Pooja Bhatt talked about several lows in her life. The actress shared that alcohol served as a band-aid for her failed marriage. The actress revealed how she felt trapped over her failed marriage and addiction to alcoholism. The actress shared how she was using the same to deal with the pain, numbness, and anguish she had. Pooja further remarked that over the years, she learned to deal with it all in her own way, and that's when the magic happened.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Pooja Bhatt shared that she started her career in Bollywood when she was only 17 years old, and by the time she turned 19, she was already a superstar. The actress further added that when she reached the age of 24, people stated that she was finished as she had already reached the peak at a young age.
