Pooja Bedi Shares How She Managed The Grief Of Losing Brother, Stayed Calm To Prevent Miscarriage

Pooja Bedi, the daughter of legendary actor, Kabir Bedi and dancer, Protima Bedi, has carved her own position in the entertainment industry with Vishkanya, Shakthi, Comedy Couple and more. Pooja, who is known for her outspoken views, recently opened up about the trauma she faced while she was pregnant with Jawaani Jaaneman actress, Alaya F.

Pooja Bedi lost her brother when she was pregnant

Recently, Pooja Bedi sat down for a candid conversation with Siddharth Kanan, in which she opened up about the tough time when her brother, Siddharth committed suicide. She revealed that when her brother took that step, she was pregnant with Alaya. Pooja Bedi was quoted as saying:

"My brother died by suicide when I was pregnant with Alaya. His death came as a huge shock. It was very tough for my father-he walked into the room and saw it. I can't imagine what they went through at that point in time."

Pooja Bedi continued to add that even though, the death was completely unexpected and shocking, she had to stay calm as she didn’t want the sadness to impact her child or lead to miscarriage. In her words:

"They tried to calm me down. I wanted to stay calm for the child in my tummy. I didn't want the trauma to lead to a miscarriage or impact my baby. I stayed positive. As much as I loved him and missed him, I knew his journey had ended-and mine still had to continue."

Pooja Bedi’s brother, Siddharth left a message for her child before his death

In the same candid interview with Siddharth Kanan, Pooja Bedi revealed that before committing suicide, his brother had left a heartfelt message for her and her unborn child. Recalling Siddharth’s suicide, Pooja mentioned that the incident was unnecessary and she wished her brother had done things differently. She shared:

"He had left a very sweet message for me and my child. He even wrote a letter to my mom. That incident was unnecessary, but he decided to end his journey. I really wish he had done things differently and lived."

Pooja and Siddharth were the children of Kabir Bedi. Both Pooja and Siddharth shared a very good bond with each other. They were inseparable during their childhood. Pooja Bedi has often spoken about his relationship with Siddharth and called him a "bright and kind soul." In Pooja’s personal life, she was married to Farhan Furniturewala but the duo parted ways within a few years. Over the years, she has been in multiple relationships, but none of them worked out. 

On the other hand, Pooja’s brother, Siddharth was an academically gifted individual. Reportedly, he had graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University. But despite all his achievements, he struggled with schizophrenia, which eventually took his life in 1997, at the tender age of 26. His death came as a shock to everyone, including Pooja, Kabir and Protima. Reportedly, his unexpected death had a major impact on Pooja's relationship with her mother, Protima.
