Legendary Indian advertising executive, Piyush Pandey, passed away on October 23, 2025, from complications of pneumonia at the age of 70. Following his death, his niece, Ishitta Arun, and her husband, Dhruv Ghanekar, paid a special tribute to their beloved Piyush mama. Ishitta is the daughter of popular singer-actress, Ila Arun, who happens to be Piyush's sister. They were a tight-knit family, and the ad mogul's death devastated them. To honour his legacy, Ishitta and Dhruv prepared a thoughtful video for Piyush, including a remake of the deceased's favourite song.
Piyush Pandey was known for his wit and humour, which revolutionised the Indian advertising industry. To pay him tribute, it is only befitting that his comedic flair is matched, and Ishitta and Dhruv aptly did so. Being one of Piyush Pandey's closest persons, Ishitta knew the best way to honour his legacy. Rather than sharing an emotional throwback, she made a video collage of Piyush's memorable moments and animated clips, with a parody of his favourite song as the background music.

Piyush Pandey loved O Haseena Zulfon Waali by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, and Ila Arun's daughter and son-in-law changed the chorus lyrics to "Oh Piyush Moochonwaale Pandey sahab/ Tum jaisa na aur koi champion yahaan." Ishitta and Dhruv made the video for Piyush's 70th birthday and decided to share it with the world after his demise. Ishitta drew inspiration for the lyrics from Piyush Pandey's iconic lines, as heard in his most popular advertisements. Ishitta's husband, Dhurv, sang the parody song, and employees of Ogilvy (the company Piyush worked for four decades) helped put together the heartfelt video. Ishitaa wrote:
"For Mama's 70th, I took his favourite song, O Haseena Zulfon Wali, and rewrote it using the very taglines he gave this nation, the ones all of us say without realising they came from him. I wrote the lyrics. Dhruv sang them. And the boys at Ogilvy pulled an overnight miracle (of course they did - this agency practically invented the all-nighter)."

According to Ishitta, it is impossible to 'summarize a legacy' of a talented individual like Piyush Pandey; however, she and her husband, Dhruv, had tried their level best to honour their uncle in their own little way. It was their way of telling Piyush, "Your words are in our voices." She also recalled his emotional reaction to watching the video on his 70th birthday on September 5, 2025. As per Ishitta, Piyush laughed and cried tears of joy as he loved the video so much. With his sorrowful demise, Ishitta shared that Piyush deserves to be celebrated and raised the following questions:
"How do you celebrate a man who didn't just write lines he changed the way an entire country speaks? How do you fit decades of culture, memory, humour, and everyday language into one moment?"

Piyush Pandey died from complications of pneumonia on October 24, 2025. His sister, Ila Arun, confirmed that the legendary adman had been in the ICU and succumbed to the ailment. The ad agency Ogilvy, where he served as the Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer (South Asia) for more than four decades, stated that he had been "battling an infection that took a serious turn." Piyush's death at 70 was a shock to the advertising world, leading to an outpouring of tributes from public figures such as Shah Rukh Khan and Indian PM Narendra Modi.
