He bid adieu to the world at the age of 70 on October 24, 2025, leaving everyone teary-eyed. Not just his colleagues and family, but the millions of fans who loved his fun-filled work, too, poured in their heartfelt condolences for the maverick.

Piyush Pandey’s final rites took place in Mumbai, and in the videos that surfaced on social media, his family looked devastated. In one of the videos, Piyush’s sister, Illa Arun, was seen weeping profusely as she looked at her brother for the last time before bidding him goodbye forever. Although Illa tried to keep calm, she couldn’t control her emotions.

On the other hand, Piyush’s wife, Nita Pandey, turned emotional after she bid adieu to her soulmate during his antim yatra. Other family members were seen consoling Nita. Many people gathered to pay their respects to the legend, with tears in their eyes.

What was the cause of Piyush Pandey's passing?

Hours after Piyush Pandey’s death, his sister, Ila Arun, issued the first statement regarding the loss of her 'precious brother'. She told The Indian Express that Piyush was suffering from pneumonia and succumbed to complications from the ailment. She referred to her late brother as the life of their family and said:

"My brother passed away at 5:50 a.m. this morning because of pneumonia complications. He was in the ICU. As a sister, I can say he was a precious brother and the life of our family."

Piyush Pandey was a legend in the advertising world. The executive chairman of Ogilvy was the voice behind some of the most iconic Indian advertisements. He rebranded Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, with his slogan, ‘Ab ki baar, Modi sarakar', written during the 2014 election campaign. Campaigns like Asian Paints’ 'Har khushi mein rang laaye', Cadbury’s 'Kuch Khaas Hai', Fevicol’s iconic 'Egg' ad, and Hutch’s pug ad were some of the iconic ads that Piyush gifted to the world.
