Pierre passed away at the age of 70, and according to a report by RadioLink, he was found dead at his house on the morning of October 29, 2025. Robert had a career spanning across four decades, making him one of the most loved radio personalities.

Pierre Robert became the favourite of his fans when, in 1981, he joined the 93.3 WMMR radio station, and his listeners came to love his energetic personality, his love for rock music, and his signature words, "Greetings Citizens." Now, Beasley Media Group, the owner of WWMR, has issued a statement confirming Pierre's death. In a sad note, it read:

"A true radio icon, Pierre was one of the most recognized personalities in the City of Philadelphia. He hosted the midday show with his unabashed love for music, his listeners, and the city. Pierre encompassed everything that rocks — from classic to alternative, punk to singer-songwriter."

Pierre Robert's Volkswagen van  got him to Philadelphia from San Francisco and gave him a job as a WMMR radio icon

For the unversed, Pierre Robert was born on August 1, 1955, back in Truckee, in California. His journey with the radio industry started off in San Francisco back at 94.9 KSAN-FM, a famous progressive rock station. Robert then reconsidered the option because there was a format shift when he was in San Francisco. Back in 1981, he drove his Volkswagen van called Minerva, which is how he landed in Philadelphia and then joined WMMR.

Pierre Robert used to go for acupuncture twice a week

Pierre Robert, earlier in an interview with Phillymag.com, shared that he had done all forms of body alignment things. This was because he used to have a lot of pain in his body and for this reason he used to take accupuncture that also two times in a week. Robert had a very kind nature that contributed to his household name. Over the years, he was not just known as a DJ but became a symbolic representation of the rock culture of Philadelphia. Speaking of taking acupuncture for his aches, Pierre had shared:

"Over the years, I’ve done all kinds of body-alignment-type things. I have a lot of aches and pains, and I go to acupuncture twice a week. And it really works, though it makes me a little spacey at the end of each session."

Pierre Robert had told his teacher about coming on the radio once

Robert, with his show, was known to connect his listeners from all walks of life. He used to blend classic hit songs with new tracks and share stories related to life as well as music. According to a report by WMMR.com, Pierre, as a kid, would listen to all kinds of radio, especially the old ones, and used to listen to the channel he worked on, which was 93.3 FM dial. "One day, I walked into the studio and spoke with the teacher Dr. Benton. I told him that I was going to be on the radio one day. Since that day, my focus shifted to media, in particular radio. There was just something about music that really drew my attention. Pierre Robert had a lot to do with that."

Pierre Robert was being killed in taxes, and his manager had told him to buy a new house

As a kid, Pierre used to attend thousands of concerts and attend the casino shows that took place in Lake Tahoe with his parents. Pierre used to attend Bill Graham rock shows, many in Philadelphia, where he used to watch, broadcast, or introduce the show to make an appearance. However, in 1992, Pierre's business manager had told him to take a new house as taxes were burying him. Pierre shared:

"Around 1992, my business manager told me I needed to buy a house. He said I needed to grow up and that I was getting killed in taxes. So I started looking around and found this wild house that appealed to my bizarre sense of design, a kind of Frank Lloyd Wright 1950s modern house. And once I got settled, it was easy to stay here."

Pierre Robert had a self-described schedule on WMMR

When Pierre was in WMMR, his midday slot had become fixated for his set of listeners. His signature phrase, "Great day in the morning" apart from, "Greetings, Citizens" had become very famous. Pierre's show had varied segments such as Work Force Blocks where many songs by one artist was played, Vinyl Cut where a deep track from the archives used to be played along with On This Day which was about features related to music history. According to a repory by the Mainlinetoday, Pierre also used to have a self described schedule where he used to start the show at his own time, used to run it late or even longer.
