Peacemaker Season 2 OTT Release In India, When And Where To Watch John Cena's Superhero Flick

Peacemaker has been making the headlines for a long time now. The superhero series, set in the DC universe, has fans eagerly awaiting its second season. The premiere of the show took place recently on August 13, 2025, and the much-anticipated series, featuring John Cena as 'Christopher Smith', is all set to offer a unique direction.

When and where to watch 'Peacemaker' season 2 in India

Peacemaker season 2, directed by James Gunn, will show the titular character, played by John Cena, face new threats and challenges in the latest season. While season 1 kept viewers on the edge of their seats, the upcoming season promises intense drama and some never-before-seen twists.

The show will premiere on August 22, 2025, on Max in the US, whereas in India, it will be featured on Jio Hotstar. The first episode will be dropped on August 22, following the release of the latest episodes every Friday.

The show will have eight episodes and will follow a weekly release pattern. This will keep the audience hooked to the show as they will have to wait for an entire week to know the next plot. In India, the show will be available in English, Hindi, and Tamil, with subtitles.

Peacemaker’s titular character and the additional cast

John Cena will play the titular character of ‘Chris Smith’, alongside Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, Tim Meadows, and Michael Rooker.

While the first season was a spin-off from the DC Extended Universe film, The Suicide Squad, the second season is a soft reboot of the DCE, carrying the franchise forward. Director of the show, James Gunn, in an interview, also stated that the latest season will also feature lots of guest stars.

'Peacemaker' early reviews

While fans are thrilled to see John Cena back as Peacemaker, however, the script is reportedly flat. Season 2 focuses inwardly on John Cena and his reconciliation with his violent past. He is also haunted by the death of his father and the shame of his past actions. The new season also shows Chris’ internal battle against self-loathing.

Season 2 explores the idea of true redemption for a man steeped in violence. The new season also offers Chris’ discovery of a parallel universe, in which he sees himself as the beloved hero he always wished to be. The season also reflects on Chris’s desires and his insecurities. There are many new players in the show, who challenge Chris and his path.  

People loved John Cena’s character portrayal, which balanced his bravado and vulnerability. The DCU Brief stated:

“Peacemaker Season 2 is brilliant. An existential story about reckoning with trauma, and the chances life gives us at redemption. Killer soundtrack, banging action, and a more serious tone. You'll punch the air from excitement but cry from how deeply tragic it is."
