Patrick Murray passed away in his sleep on October 2, 2025, at the age of 68, in Rochester. The unfortunate news about Murray's death was first shared on an Only Fools fan site, dedicated to the late actor's iconic show, Only Fools and Horses. The fan site, in its statement, wrote, "It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray – Mickey Pearce to so many." Talking about the cause of Murray's death, as per reports, the British actor underwent surgery and chemotherapy back in 2021 to remove a cancerous lung tumour.
Unfortunately, in the following years, doctors diagnosed another tumour in Patrick Murray's liver in the subsequent scans. In 2023, Murray informed his fans and well-wishers in a public statement that he had been diagnosed with cancer for a second time. However, he assured his fans that he had undergone surgery at King's College Hospital, where the doctors removed half of his liver and the tumour.
According to reports, Patrick Murray underwent transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) to restrict the blood supply to a tumour. Unfortunately, the actor's second bout of lung cancer had spread to his legs and pelvis, which reportedly became the primary reason behind his death. According to media reports, he died in the presence of his loved ones and family members. The sudden demise of Murray has left a significant void in the British television industry, as his character, 'Mickey Pearce', was the soul of Only Fools and Horses, one of the UK's greatest sitcoms ever.
Patrick Murray made his acting debut in 1977 with the British television play, Scum, alongside iconic actor, Ray Winstone. Despite initial struggles to get good roles like any actor in the world, Murray went on to deliver memorable acting performances in a series of films and TV shows. Some of Murray's best works include Quadrophenia, The Firm, Only Fools and Horses, Curse of the Pink Panther, ITV Playhouse, The Bill, and many more. However, there came a phase in Murray's career when he started struggling to get roles.
A year after his marriage, Patrick Murray applied for his wife's visa, as he wanted to bring her and their daughter to the UK; however, the visa authority rejected his application. According to a report in Soapcentral, in 2017, Murray's application to bring his wife and daughter from Thailand to the UK was rejected as he couldn't meet the income requirements for bringing non-European partners to his home country. It was a terrible situation for Murray, and to earn money, he quit acting and started working as a taxi driver.

Regarding Patrick Murray's marriage story, he reportedly met the love of his life, Anong, in Thailand during his decade-long stay there. During this time, he dated Anong for some time before marrying her in 2016. In the following days, the couple welcomed a baby girl, whom they had named Josie. After spending such a long time in Thailand, when Murray returned to the UK, he couldn't land an acting role. Thus, he started working as a cab driver, and after two years, when he fulfilled the income criteria, he reunited with his wife and daughter in Britain.
After Patrick Murray's demise, people are worried about his wife and daughter's future, as there's not much info about the fortune he's leaving behind for his family. According to multiple reports, Murray has reportedly invested a good chunk of money in Thailand's real estate. He even owns a terraced house in London, along with some cash and deposits. The numbers and figures aren't extravagant, but we hope all this might be sufficient for his wife and young daughter.
Our deepest condolences are with Anong and Josie; we hope they soon learn to live with his scar for the rest of their lives.
