American actor, Patrick Marron Ball is best known for his role as ‘Dr. Frank Langdon' on the television drama series, The Pitt. The handsome young doctor, who charms the Pittsburgh ER, has really become a household name. The actor not only gained immense popularity with the show but also paid off a huge debt.
In an interview with Cultural magazine, Patrick revealed how the Emmy-winning HBO Max medical series, The Pitt helped him pay off USD 80,000 in student loan debt. Speaking of the same, he explained how the financial constraints strained his relationships too. Speaking about the same, he shared:
“I paid off my student loans like three months into ‘The Pitt,’ and that was a really profound moment because I thought I was gonna die with it. It’s a huge burden to carry, and a lot of people carry it. I was USD 80,000 in debt and I had been through a series of failed relationships where my financial insecurity was a real problem. I had just thought that was going to be my life forever, and that is a really heavy thing to live with.”

Patrick Ball grew up in North Carolina and studied broadcast journalism, but he dropped out before graduating to pursue acting. After moving to New York City, Patrick worked in local theatre productions. He later completed his degree and a Master of Fine Arts. He made his television debut in 2023 as a guest on Law & Order.

In 2025, Patrick began playing 'Dr Frank Langdon' on the medical drama television series, The Pitt. He earned a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination for best supporting actor in a drama series for his role in The Pitt. He won a SAG Award as part of the show’s ensemble cast. Prior to being cast in The Pitt, Patrick was working towards a life outside of Hollywood.

Before starring in The Pitt, Patrick worked at a coffee shop, at a restaurant and even as a wardrobe assistant. He also conducted many corporate coaching seminars in which young administrators would learn to fire someone, using him as a dummy. Speaking about the same to Cultural magazine, he shared:

“They would bring me in as an actor so that these administrators could get practice firing someone. So I have been fired more than anyone you’ve ever met, I promise you. I’ve been fired thousands of times. And then the call for ‘The Pitt’ came in and everything was different.”
