Paresh Rawal, the master of comedy in Bollywood, has entertained a lot of audiences through his versatile portrayal of different comic characters. From Hera Pheri, Andaz Apna Apna to Hungama, the veteran actor has won millions of hearts. However, Paresh’s revelation about his iconic role in Hera Pheri, ‘Baburao’ in a recent interview shocked many. After the legendary actor’s shocking revelation about his ‘Baburao’ role to be ‘gale ka fanda’, another revelation of Paresh Rawal is leading the headlines. For the uninitiated, Paresh Rawal recently revealed that he wanted to break the 'Baburao' image and create a fresh image of himself.
In a recent interview with Lallantop, Paresh Rawal recalled a moment when the legendary actor got an early morning call when he was busy shooting in Mauritius in 1993 or 1994. It was the famous producer and brother of Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt. He called Paresh to inform him that he will be receiving the National Award for the 1993 film, Sir, directed by Mahesh Bhatt.
After Paresh Rawal got a grip of the exciting moment, he got another call. This time, it was filmmaker, Kalpana Lajmi. She informed the veteran actor that he had won the Best Actor award for Ketan Mehta’s film, Sardar. Soon after Paresh returned to Delhi, hearing the good news, the legendary actor came to know that he is solely credited for his film, Sir and not Sardar. Being confused about what went wrong, the veteran actor went to filmmaker, Ketan Mehta, film critic, Khalid Mohamed, and also filmmaker, Shyam Benegal. Even Ketan, Khalid and Shyam were unaware of the sudden change at the last moment.
Finally, it was politician, T. Subbarami Reddy who gave Paresh an explanation regarding why his film couldn’t make it to the National Awards. According to the legendary actor, the politician told him, “Aap logon ne lobby nahi kiya. Humne kiya... aggressive lobby... aur Mammootty ko mila.” Indian actor Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail, popularly known as Mammootty, got the award for Best Actor in 1994 for his film, Vidheyan and Ponthan Mada.
