Paresh Rawal opened up about his mother's demise in a heart-to-heart conversation with Neelesh Misra on his YouTube talk show, The Slow Interview. For the unversed, Paresh Rawal’s mother experienced a hip fracture and a severe head injury, which was the main factor behind her sad demise. Despite doctors' best efforts, she was put on life support as her condition was quite serious. However, the doctors told Paresh that they couldn’t go for the necessary surgery because of his mother's age and her overall health condition. Thus, they suggested him to pull the plug and stop prolonging her death. Recalling the same, he had said:
"He (Doctor) told me, 'Paresh, she’s on life support. Even if she wakes up, she will not recognise anybody. She’s old, and she might not survive the surgery. Her brain has been injured. By waiting, you’re not extending her life, you’re prolonging her death. Pull the plug. This is practical, and these are the facts.'"
Despite giving it a thought and considering all the practical facts, the doting son, Paresh Rawal couldn’t pull the plug. However, eventually, the actor’s mother passed away due to a heart attack on June 23, 2010. Further, in the same interview with Neelesh Misra, Paresh Rawal admitted that he finds himself lucky for not pulling the plug on a doctor’s advice. He had said:
"Before I went to Sri Lanka, I was filing the form to give permission to the doctors to pull the plug, but I couldn’t read anything as my eyes were all filled up with tears. I was crying. I said to myself that I have no right to pull the plug on the woman who gave me birth."
Paresh Rawal is indeed a doting son, and every parent deserves a child like him.
