Paresh Rawal is among the Hindi film industry's most versatile and professional actors. He has entertained audiences through various roles with a career spanning more than four decades. Moreover, he has worked with some of the biggest superstars in the industry, including Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, and shares a warm bond with them. Paresh never shies away from sharing his true feelings about a person and recently shared how an incident involving Salman Khan during the shoot of their film, Ready affected him and his family.
Paresh Rawal, who prefers to stay away from the limelight, recently sat down for an interview with The Lallantop. During his interview, he recalled his experience working with Salman Khan and shared an interesting incident that brought him into trouble. He shared that his mother was ill when he left for a three-day shoot of Ready in Sri Lanka. Before leaving, he had multiple discussions with the doctor about his mother's health, and after getting a nod from the doctor, he left for the shoot. However, his mother passed away, and he had to return to India. Consequently, he asked the film's director, Anees Bazmee, if he could go home. In his words:
"Main chala gaya, par Lanka mein mujhe pata chala, my sister called me up and said ki… that our mother is no more, and I decided to come back immediately. Abhi main baitha hua tha aur mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha tha. Main kaha kuch hai scene wagerah toh kar daal, warna main mar jaunga toh ek chota sa scene tha Mahesh Manjrekar ke saath usne woh kiya phir.”
After completing the scene, he left for Mumbai to attend his mother's final rites. When he returned to India, he saw that a fake news story was published in the newspaper, which claimed he was reluctant to leave the shoot, but Salman Khan convinced him to do so. Paresh mentioned that someone wanted to please Salman by doing so, and the Dabangg actor would never stoop down to such antics. However, it brought Paresh into trouble because his family felt the news story was true. Recalling the incident, he said:
"Woh jisne likhwai toh woh kisi ko please karne ke liye. Mujhe achhi tarah yaad hai ki Salman Khan aisa nahi karega. (He would never do such a thing.) Salman Khan ki family ko achhe se jaanta hoon… unki family true blooded hai. Ghar mein saghe waale toh padhte hai na… unhone kaha yeh kya kiya tumne, tumhari maa hai woh.”
Despite not being the one to urge Paresh Rawal to go home, Salman Khan played a crucial role in helping the actor bounce back from grief. In an earlier interview with the Times Of India, Paresh Rawal once shared that when he received the news of his mother's demise, he felt numb. Salman Khan made arrangements for his return to Mumbai from Columbo and his father, Salim Khan, supported him through the painful phase. He said:
"When I heard the news, I felt a part of me died that very instant. I was numbed with grief. It was Salman Khan who gave me strength to go through the day. He made all the arrangements for my trip back to Mumbai. If I had not worked at that point in time, I'd have probably collapsed with grief. Salman Bhai and his father, Salim Saab, provided great support and comfort. I don't think I could've gone through that day if I hadn't channelized my grief into work."
Paresh Rawal, who used to work in theatre, made his Hindi film debut in 1984 with Holi. But he got his breakthrough with his role as a villain in the 1986 film, Naam. The actor went on to play versatile and memorable roles in films like Hera Pheri, Andaz Apna Apna, Sardar, OMG – Oh My God! and more. At the same time, Paresh's flawless acting performance in Tamanna and Sardar impressed the critics. He would be next seen in Bhoot Bangla, Welcome To The Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3.
