Palak Sindhwani, best known for her character ‘Sonu Bhide’ in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been entangled in many controversies for a while now. It started with rumours about Palak being served a legal notice due to a breach of contract. Initially, the claims were refuted by both Palak and producer, Asit Kumar Modi. However, Neela Film Productions, the production house has now confirmed in an official statement that they did indeed serve the actress with a legal notice. Amidst the chaos, Palak has broken her silence in a statement released to the media by her team.
In her statement to the media, Palak vehemently denied all accusations about a breach of agreement. She strongly stated that the allegations were “a bunch of lies” and a “false story” concocted by the production house to harass and defame her. She also stated that during her 5-year run on TMKOC, she was never once stopped from endorsing any brands until she announced her desire to quit.

Palak's statement futher alluded to the fact that the production house had even collaborated with her on one reel, which was then jointly posted to Instagram by her and them. The statement then spoke about the treatment Palak was subjected to on the set. The excerpt reads:
“Palak has been subjected to constant inhuman treatment on the sets of the said Serial and is being harassed by all means by production house and its team which caused her various health issues including mental trauma. This concern about her health deteriorating was intimated to them from time to time on various occasions and she requested to allow her to take some medical leave to rest, but the same was declined by them under one pretext or the other and her such repeated requests fell on deaf ears.”
Palak claims to have informed TMKOC’s production house of her intention to quit on August 8, 2024. However, when she tried to discuss the exit formalities with a senior producer on September 7, 2024, she was allegedly subjected to “emotional torture/blackmail.”
Palak’s statement says that after she tried to terminate her agreement, the production house released “false and derogatory remarks” about her to social media. Due to the mental stress, she found working a challenge. Speaking about the production house's reaction, the statement said:

“However, production house completely brushed aside her health and other concerns and instead asked her to work with passion, and forced her to perform scenes on that very same day. As a result, on September 14, 2024, itself Palak suffered a panic attack on set, of which she informed the production team, who also did not pay any heed to her deteriorating health.”
For the unversed, Palak Sindhwani isn't the first TMKOC actor to claim that she was treated poorly by the show’s makers. Before her, actors like Jennifer Mistry, Priya Ahuja, Monika Bhadoriya, Shailesh Lodha, and Neha Mehta, among others, have come forward in the media with their stories of mistreatment on the TMKOC set.
