Indian cricket team vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, and music composer Palaash Muchhal's wedding has hit a roadblock. The duo confirmed on their respective social media that they were no longer considering postponing their marriage, as it has been permanently called off. Palaash and Smriti might not have ended their relationship on an amicable note, as they have cut social ties by unfollowing each other on Instagram and deleting most of their couple photos. Even the surprise engagement video was also deleted, confirming that things hit a rough patch between them. Amid that, Palaash's sister, Palak Muchhal, made her stance clear on the issue.
Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal's wedding was initially scheduled for November 23, 2025, but it was postponed due to health emergencies in both families. Now, the wedding has officially been cancelled, with both the finacés presenting their statements through Instagram Stories. Smriti confirmed "the wedding is called off" and stated that she wanted to "close this matter here". The Indian vice captain requested privacy and respect for both her and Palaash's families, citing the time and space they need to move past the incident.

Smriti stated that her focus would remain on a "higher purpose", which is representing India in cricket and bringing home more trophies like the women's team's recent World Cup win. Palaash's statement also echoed similar sentiments, mentioning, "I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal life." He was troubled by the "baseless rumours" circulating on social media about him and called it "the most difficult phase" of his life. He also probed legal action against people spreading "defamatory content" about him. Following Smriti and Palaash's Story updates, they unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted most couple photos and videos from their profiles.

Palak Muchhal, the singer sister of Palaash Muchhal, made her position clear on the cancelled wedding of her brother, right after the official statement was released. As Smriti and Palaash unfollowed each other, Palak Muchhal also unfollowed Smriti. The Indian cricketer also did the same for Palak. Palak and Smriti, who once shared a close bond and supported each other on social media, are no longer on each other's following lists. This was Palak's first reaction to the called-off wedding, making her stance clear that she would stand by her sibling's side no matter what. Palak also deleted the photos featuring Smriti from her profile.

Smriti and Palaash's wedding was initially postponed at the last minute when Smriti Mandhana's father was hospitalised due to a sudden heart condition on the morning of the ceremony. Shortly after, Palaash was also reported to have needed medical assistance due to stress-related health issues. However, after the wedding postponement news surfaced, rumours regarding his alleged cheating surfaced. Unverified screenshots of alleged flirty chats between Palaash and another woman circulated widely online, sparking intense backlash against him.

After that, another woman claimed to have Palaash's phone number and made similar flirting allegations against him, even though he was a committed man. Fuelling the fire was his alleged links with Nandhika Dwivedi, the wedding choreographer for his and Smriti's sangeet. A Reddit post claimed that Palaash was caught red-handed with Nandhika the night before his wedding by Smriti's teammate, Shreyanka Patil. Although all of it remains unverified, they definitely cause the now-separated couple mental stress, and were most likely the reason for them calling off their marriage.
