Pahalgam attack has left the entire nation in shock. Now, the father of a victim of the attack has opened up about the tragic occurrence.

The eve of April 22, 2025, brought the darkest clouds for the entire country, with the news of a henious attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of twenty six people fell victim of a terrorist attack. While the government has put sanctions on Pakistan for the horrid incident, a father has come forward with the painful story of losing his son to the attack.

The attack has left 26 happy families, heartbroken and the entire nation enraged. With every picture and video that has surfaced on the internet, the cruelty of the terrorists has become more evident. Among the victims, was a man from Kanpur, whose father, Sanjay Dwivedi, in a conversation with ANI, recalled the horror of the incident. He revealed that he had not accompanied his son to the open ground, as it was a 7-kilometre horse ride. Therefore, his son, Shubham, his wife, Eshanya, and the latter's sister-in-law had gone to the spot. He was quoted as saying:

"Eye witness nahi hai hum log, Pahalgam mei neeche ruk gaye the, bacche upar gaye the. Humlog waha neeche ek sthaan hota hai uskey baad upar jaane ke liye ghodey se jaana hota hai, usko 'mini Switzerland' kehte hai. Toh waha jaane ke liye 7 km ghodey se chadaai karni padhti hai, toh hum upar nahi gaye the. Hum neeche baithe the restaurant mei aur bacchon ko bhej diya tha. Bacche matlab, mera beta, bahu, bahu ki been, ye sab log gaye the."

In the same conversation, Sanjay revealed that his son, Shubham was enjoying the vacation with his wife, Eshanya, when the terrorists attacked them. He added that they asked them for their religion and then shot him. However, when his daughter-in-law, Eshanya asked him to shoot her as well, the terrorists refused. They told her to inform the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, about what had happened here. The father of the deceased also shared that he talked to the Home Minister, Amit Shah and has told him what he wants. He was quoted as saying:

"Mera beta aur bahu baithe the, snacks kha rahe the. Peeche se aai aatangwaadi, poocha Hindu ho ya Muslim ho. Unhoney jaise hi Hindu bola, turant goli maar di. Meri bahu kehne lagi mujhe bhi maar do, boley nahi tum jao Modi ko batana, tumhey nahi maarenge. Aur uskey baad baaki logo pe goliyan chalayi."

Mortal remains of Shubham Dwivedi were later brought to his home in Kanpur

The victim, Shubham Dwivedi had tied the knot on February 13, 2025 and was on a family holiday which turned into a nightmare for his loved ones. His mortal remains were brought back to his home in Kanpur. ANI shared the video on it's X account, which features the heartbreaking cries of his family members.

More about the Pahalgam attack

The attack occurred in the late afternoon of April 22, 2025, after unidentified gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Pahalgam's Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the reports there have been 26 deaths. Security forces rushed to the area of attack after gunshots were heard. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his trip to Dubai and returned to India after being informed of the attack.
