Legendary singer, Ozzy Osbourne, who is known as the godfather of heavy metal, passed away on July 22, 2025. His family confirmed the news through a statement, leaving everyone drowning in sorrow. Ozzy, one of the former lead vocalists of Black Sabbath, had his final show a few days ago on July 5, 2025, and his demise has left everyone heartbroken.
The reason for Ozzy's demise isn't known yet. For the unversed, he was dealing with Stage 2 of Parkinson's disease since 2019. However, his fans will hear one last time, and that will be through his memoir, Last Rites, wherein he reportedly revealed some unheard stories about himself. For the unversed, Ozzy Osbourne's memoir, Last Rites, is reportedly all set to be released in October 2025.
The news first surfaced on July 10, 2025, through the Hachette Book Group. For the unversed, Grand Central Publishing will publish Ozzy Osbourne's memoir, as reported by Vice. The memoir is going to be all about Ozzy's life, which reportedly will also feature his feelings during the final show with Black Sabbath.
US Magazine reported that Ozzy's memoir is about his life with Black Sabbath, his marriage to Sharon, and his health battles. Men's Journal reported that Ozzy, in the teaser for his memoir, said that if anyone would ask him to change anything from his life, he would never do the same. Ozzy ironically said that if everything ended, then he wouldn't have any complaint, as he had been all around the world, seen a lot of things, and done both good and bad. Ozzy could be quoted as saying:
"People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything? I’m like, f--- no. If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good... and I’ve done bad."
The same report by Men's Journal revealed that Ozzy Osbourne had experienced several ups and downs in his life over the last few years. Reportedly, the description of Last Rites pointed at how Ozzy was admitted to the hospital for a finger infection, which eventually led him to be abandoned from his public life and tour, because he had faced total paralysis from the neck down. For the unversed, Ozzy Osbourne had been dealing with Stage 2 Parkinson's disease since 2019, when he had a hard fall. Ozzy had to undergo surgery, which nearly wrecked his nerves. Talking about the same, in an interview with Good Morning America, Ozzy said that he couldn't keep up with the secret anymore, which he seemingly did earlier by keeping the buzz about his Parkinson's disease to be a speculation only.
Ozzy said he felt numbness in his arms after the surgery, which required cutting his nerves. He also said his feet used to be cold, and he couldn't understand whether it was due to the disease, which used to cause nerve pain.
