Many years back, Ozzy had shared his wishes about his funeral and burial. In a 2011 interview with The Times, he explained that he wanted his funeral to be more like a celebration than an emotional event filled with melancholy. Further in his autobiography, I Am Ozzy, he also revealed his burial preferences, telling his beloved, Sharon, not to cremate him. He wished to be laid to rest in a garden with a tree planted over his grave, preferably a crabapple tree, so that his children could later make wine from it and enjoy the moment, keeping the ceremony lighthearted. In his words:
"Eventually, death will come, like it comes to everyone. I've said to Sharon: 'Don't cremate me, whatever you do.' I want to be put in the ground, in a nice garden somewhere, with a tree planted over my head. A crabapple tree, preferably, so the kids can make wine out of me and get pissed out of their heads."
