Netflix’s new series, a Mexican thriller, No One Saw Us Leave, left fans captivated. Many are still wondering whether the plot of the series is based on a true story of a real-life kidnapping that shook Mexico’s Jewish community in the 1960s.
The story follows 'Valeria' Goldberg, portrayed by Tessa Ía, who is married to 'Leo Saltzman', played by Emiliano Zurita. 'Leo' is the son of an influential businessman, 'Samuel Saltzman', played by Juan Manuel Berna. They had an arranged marriage, and later, 'Leo' realised that his wife had an alleged affair outside of the marriage. 'Valeria' falls in love with' Leo’s brother-in-law, 'Carlos', played by Gustavo Bassani, and the two begin an affair. When he finds out about the situation between the two, he, in his anger, takes one step that turns 'Valeria' and her children’s lives upside down.
In anger, the father-son duo made a plan to take her children away and tear away her reputation in the community. 'Leo' and 'Valeria' had two children, and on the advice of the parents, 'Leo' decided to take his children away, aware of his wife's knowledge of the situation. He took 'Tamara' and 'Issac' to Europe without speaking to 'Valeria', which changed the course of her life. 'Leo' manipulates his children against 'Valeria' as he jumps from country to country.
When 'Valeria' realised that her children were gone, she enlisted the help of 'Elías', an ex-Mossad agent turned P.I., to track them down. Together, they run around the world to track down her kids. As the story grows further, things become difficult for 'Valeria' as her in-laws try to turn their shared community against her. Will she ever reunite with her kids?
The series has a strong cast to keep the show engaging. Tessa Ía played 'Valeria Goldberg', the mother, in the search for her children. Emiliano Zurita played 'Leo Saltzman,' Valeria’s husband. Samuel Saltzman, played by Juan Manuel Bernal and 'Carlos' by Gustavo Bassani. A former agent, 'Elias', played by Ari Brickman, is also an important character who helps 'Valeria' in the search.
