However, due to mental health problems, she left gymnastics and retired from her university's team before the 2018-19 season.

After retirement, Samatha Catherine Roy worked as an assistant coach for some time, completed her degree in neuroscience and co-founded Student-Athlete Sexual Health (S.A.S.H).
