Saif Ali Khan is a prominent star in Bollywood, and the news about the actor being attacked at his home by an intruder became one of the most high-profile cases in the industry. The case drew more attention when it was revealed that the intruder had been doing a recce around the residence and entered Saif and Kareena's son, Jeh's room, seeking money. Mumbai Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused, Shariful Islam, within three days of the incident. A few days ago, the Mumbai Police filed a comprehensive charge sheet of over 1000 pages in the court on Saif Ali Khan's attack case. Amid that, a new media report by News18 India has suggested that among the total 20 samples that were sent to the state CID's Fingerprint Bureau, 19 did not match those of Shariful Islam. One of the samples matched the accused, but it was taken from the 8th floor of the building. However, the ones found on the bathroom door, the sliding door of the bedroom and the cupboard door don't belong to him, which makes it difficult to prove his presence in their home.
Apart from fingerprints, a facial recognition test was also conducted by the police, who were trying to find if Shariful's face matched the person seen on camera. But, the result of the report hasn't been public yet. Moreover, the police have also recovered 29 blood samples from the site.
Earlier, this month, India Today revealed that Shariful Islam's lawyer had filed a fresh bail plea for him. It stated that the case filed against him is false, and despite that, he has been cooperating with the authorities for investigation. Moreover, the accused assured the court that he wouldn't tamper with any proof, so there was no use in keeping him in detention without his trial. However, Mumbai Police opposed it, claiming they have critical evidence against him, like a report that proves the weapon recovered from him matches the one used to stab the actor and found at the crime scene. Also, he is a Bangladeshi national who came illegally, so he might run away.
