Netizens Slam Veteran Actor, Suniel Shetty, For His Comment On C-Section Comfort: 'Only A Man...'

Suniel Shetty is one of the most popular actors in Bollywood. However, Suniel’s recent comment in an interview, drawing comparisons between natural delivery and C-sections, didn’t go well with the netizens. Since the veteran actor called C-sections a comfort, he has been facing extreme backlash on social media. For the unversed, Suniel Shetty’s daughter, Athiya Shetty and her husband, KL Rahul recently welcomed their baby. While Athiya’s father became emotional, his remark praising Athiya for opting for natural delivery rather than a C-section has been facing public outrage.

For the uninitiated, Athiya and KL Rahul tied the knot on January 23, 2023. The couple welcomed their baby girl on March 24, 2025. In a recent interview with News18, Athiya’s father, veteran actor, Suniel Shetty, shared how his daughter chose to give birth through natural delivery. He also praised his daughter for being so strong. Recalling the precious moments, Suniel said:

“In a world where everybody wants the comfort of having a caesarean baby, she chose not to do that and had a natural delivery. I remember how every nurse and pediatrician in the hospital said that it’s unbelievable how she went through the whole process. That hit me as a father. I was like, ‘Wow, she’s ready!’ Athiya was very, very strong to do that. 

Further in the interview, the veteran actor also credited Athiya’s inner strength which she has inherited from her mother, Mana Shetty. Suniel also shared how well Athiya embraced motherhood. Recalling how Athiya is taking care of the newborn, Suniel said:

“Her mother is a strong woman herself and Athiya probably soaked in all of that from her. Athiya has embraced motherhood like a fish to water… Not once has she shown any kind of stress or a frown or shown that she’s tired and exhausted.”

While Suniel expressed admiration regarding his daughter’s childbirth, the choice of words didn’t sit well with the netizens. After Suniel’s comment on C-sections caught public attention, it started facing extreme backlash. Netizens started sharing their opinions on Instagram and X handles (formerly Twitter). One user sarcastically commented, “Comfort of C-section! That’s new!” Another user wrote, “What’s there to be proud [of]? This way or that way, the baby should be safe, the mother should be safe. Birth journey is not about C-sec or natural... Shame on people who still think this.” A user’s comment can be read, “Only a man would have the audacity to think a C-section is a comfort.”

Although the couple chose not to reveal the face of the baby, the picture-perfect family post’s caption could be read as:
