Many users found the concept of using real human hair in an outfit “creepy” and “icky” rather than innovative. Users left comments like “Eww”, “Yuck” and “Hard Pass” in a Reddit post. One netizen wrote, “I am creeped out by this. It would have looked so much better if it had a smooth finish and end to the dress.”

Some, however, acknowledged that the torso of the gown looked beautiful, but the rest of the outfit was off-putting, and the asymmetrical style made it look shabby. A user remarked, “The bottom of the dress looks so shabby! Maybe if she did the hair pattern on the top and did some other skirt maybe would’ve worked.” Another user added: “The bottom of the dress looks so shabby! Maybe if she did the hair pattern on the top and did some other skirt maybe would’ve worked.”

Parul Gulati on her vision behind the dress

Speaking to Mid-Day, Parul described the ensemble as “the greatest collaboration ever.” She described wearing an outfit made entirely out of human hair as more of a tribute to her journey and not just about pushing boundaries. In her words:

“It’s an outfit that just speaks very loudly that it's me. It’s a vision I had, and Mohit brought it to life. Wearing an outfit made entirely out of human hair wasn’t just about pushing fashion boundaries—it was a homage to my journey and to every woman who’s ever embraced her uniqueness.”
