Neena Gupta Once Revealed How Masaba's Father's Identity Was Leaked, 'Stolen Birth Certificate'

Neena Gupta is one of the most loved actresses. She is often hailed for her unconventional choices. Neena Gupta's life was never a bed of roses. From her engagement being called off to falling for an already married man and later giving birth to his child, Neena had been through all. At a time when extramarital affairs and infidelity were taboo subjects, Neena gave birth to her and Vivian Richards's love child, Masaba, out of wedlock. Without expecting anything from anyone, Neena raised her daughter single-handedly.

When Neena Gupta accused a journalist of stealing her daughter’s birth certificate

However, when Neena gave birth to her daughter, Masaba, many media houses ran a story on her while doing moral policing on her. In a throwback interview, Neena spoke about the time when a famous journalist stole her daughter’s birthday certificate from the hospital. Speaking about the same to anchor, Rajdeep Sardesai, Neena mentioned that the journalist in question was Pritish Nandi. Elaborating on the same, Neena said:

“He sent somebody. So my bua, I was living with my bua, so she went and she submitted. They said come after one week, we’ll give you the birth certificate. So she went after one week and they said, ‘Wo toh le gaye aapke koi rishtedaar.’ By chance, I knew somebody who knew that person, usse pata chala ke he sent somebody and then he wrote an article. Wo pade likhe log karte hai toh tumhara toh kya bolenge.”

Neena Gupta only had Rs. 2000 in her account during her delivery

When Neena Gupta’s autobiography Sach Kahu Toh was about to be released, Masaba Gupta revealed how her mother only had Rs. 2000 in her bank account. Sharing an excerpt of the book on her social media handle, Masaba wrote an endearing note which can be read as:

“When I was born, my mum had Rs 2000/- in her bank account. A timely tax reimbursement would bump that number up to Rs 12,000/- and ofcourse I was a C-section baby. As I read mom’s biography I learnt so many things & the hardships she has had to endure. I work very hard every single day of my life & never ever let anyone not give me what I deserve only to make sure I can pay her back for bringing me into this world…..with interest!” 

When Neena Gupta gave birth to Masaba Gupta out of wedlock

A stupendous actress and a doting mother, Neena is the perfect embodiment of women's empowerment.
