Nancy Guthrie's search mission has been on for over 10 days now. Reportedly, more than 100 people, including the FBI, are working on this case. Nany, an 84-year-old author, went missing from her home, and the authorities believe that she was abducted and taken against her will when she was asleep. While no prime suspect has been found yet, a photo of the alleged abductor was released, and recently, new identity details have been shared.
A reward of USD 50K was announced by the FBI if anyone has tips and comes forward to help, which has now been buffed to USD 100,000 if anyone has any leads with the released photo and identifying details. While this is going on, it was recently revealed that the FBI was blocked from accessing key evidence in this case. Let's know what's happened around this mystifying case.
Recently, a law enforcement official told Reuters that the FBI requested that the Pima County Sheriff's Department send the physical evidence, such as the collected glove and DNA, to the bureau’s national crime lab in Quantico, Virginia. The official further revealed that Sheriff Chris Nanos, on the other hand, has insisted that they should use a private lab in Florida.
In an earlier press release, the sheriff's department revealed that the FBI had some evidence, including gloves, and, without sharing many details, reported that all viable evidence had been submitted for further analysis. The FBI official now revealed that they are blocked from accessing the key evidence, which is causing a delay if it is not processed. As per the official, the county has spent USD 200,000 to send evidence to the Florida lab in this case. Sheriff's reps were contatced but no answer was given. The official could be quoted as saying:
"It's clear the fastest path to answers is leveraging federal resources and technology. Anything less only prolongs the Guthrie family's grief and the community's wait for justice."
Recently, Us Weekly contacted a retired FBI agent, Scott Courtis, who believes that at this urgent time, friction between the department and the FBI will not at all help. An FBI official criticised the fact that they were contacted two weeks after Nancy's abduction took place and not before. Courtis also said to Us Weekly that he's surprised with the fact that it took so long for the FBI to take the case.

On the other hand, several theories about Nancy's abduction were released, while some believe there can be cartel ties, although very unlikely, but it can also happen that she was kidnapped during a wrong address invasion, some believe that the abduction could happen due to a revenge angle and could have done by one of Savannah's competitors.
