Nakuul Mehta REVEALS The Meaning Of His Newborn Daughter, 'Rumi', 'Their Names Found Us...'

Nakuul Mehta surprised his fan following by sharing his baby girl's arrival announcement. Nakul got married to Jankee in 2012, and in 2021, they welcomed their first child, whom they named Sufi. And in 2025, the couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl, whom they named 'Rumi'. 

Nakuul Mehta talked about embracing fatherhood

The couple shared a special announcement on Instagram and revealed the name of their baby girl, Rumi. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Nakuul revealed that he is overjoyed at the arrival of his princess. He expressed gratitude for embracing parenthood again. He said:

"We are overjoyed to welcome her into our little world. It’s always the child who chooses the parent and one can’t help but feel immense gratitude that we get to do this parenting thing all over again. It’s been a couple days only and I feel almost dazed being on a set, pretending to get some serious work done whist my heart craves time with the family."

For the unversed, Nakuul is shuttling between work and home. He shared that the names of his children came to them, long before the kids were born. He said:

"We knew that Sufi, our son would always have his Rumi. Long before either of them came into this world, their names found us."

Talking about his son's reaction to the arrival of his sister, Nakuul shared that Sufi was on top of the world as he had embraced the older brother role. Rumi is a feminine Muslim name with Arabic and Japanese origins. It means 'Beauty', 'Current or flow' or 'lapis lazuli'. It is also associated with the 13th-century Persian poet, Jalal ad-Din Rumi. 

Nakuul and Jankee's second baby arrival announcement

Nakuul Mehta, in a collaboration post with Jankee Parekh, dropped the announcement post on August 17, 2025. The couple welcomed a baby girl into their lives, who was born on August 15, 2025. Nakuul also revealed his daughter's name, same as his son, Sufi. For the unversed, Nakuul and Jankee named their son Sufi, and they decided to name their daughter Rumi. 

Sharing the photos, Nakuul wrote, "She’s here. Sufi finally has his Rumi.
Our hearts are complete. 15th August 2025 Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." Soon, friends and colleagues showered love-filled blessings for their baby girl. Sanya Irani wrote, "Congratulations. It’s a giiiiirrrrrllllll. Lots of love." Neeti Mohan commented, "OMG!!!! So so so happy congratulations. Hope Jankee is doing well " Tahira Kashyap penned, "Congratulations you both! What lovely name."

For the unversed, it was on June 1, 2025, when Nakuul Mehta and Jankee Parekh announced their second pregnancy. They dropped several adorable photos, wherein the then second-time mom-to-be, Jankee, was seen flaunting her baby bump while wearing a strappy grey-toned maxi dress, while announcing their second pregnancy.
