In an earlier interview with Lehren Retro, Moushumi Chatterjee opened up about her film career and recalled how she was on many instances rejected out from doing particular films since she was not in the good books of the heroes she was to be paired with. She emphasised that she never was in the habit of buttering any of her co-stars and that it was her no-compromise nature that had angered many male actors to work with her. In her words:
“Not only ‘Desh Premi’. ‘Barsaat Ki Ek Raat’ as well. I signed it but then I was out of the picture. Because I never compromise. I had to be ‘yes woman’ on everything. And I can’t do it. Even a lot of elder heroines adviced me that you have good looks and talent but you are not in the good books of the heroes.”
In the same interview, Moushumi also opened up on her side of the story when it came to her short-acting stint in Bollywood. For the unversed, despite having a great career in the Hindi film industry and having some classic hit films in her kitty, she was unable to score that much a mark in Bollywood as compared to regional Bengali cinema. She revealed that it had to do with her seemingly less dedication in the field, and that from the very beginning, she never took her career seriously.
