Remember Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic movie, Veer-Zaara? Mouli Ganguly and Mazher Sayed seem to embody its unforgettable line, “Sachi mohabbat zindagi main sirf ek baar hoti hai… aur jab hoti hai, toh koi bhagwan ya khuda use nakamayab nahi hone deta”.
One of the most unproblematic and favourite jodis of the Telly world, Mouli and Mazher’s love story surpasses socio-cultural bounds and stands as a testament to loyalty, understanding, and respect. In an industry where celebs often take the limelight for their fleeting personal relationships, Mouli and Mazher continue to charm their fans with their ever-growing bond. As the couple just entered their 14th year of togetherness on October 15, 2024, let’s look back into the sweet beginnings of their love story.
Mouli and Mazher first crossed paths on the sets of the popular thriller TV show, Kaahin Kissii Roz, which aired from 2001 to 2004. The much-in-love couple started their story as Devar and Bhabhi in reel life, playing the roles of ‘Shaina’ and ‘Anish Sikand’. It was not long before their chemistry bloomed into real-life romance, and set an inspiring example of inter-cultural relationships.
Despite societal norms and religious differences, Mouli and Mazher’s love blossomed, defying all expectations. Their diverse cultural and religious backgrounds never proved to be a disadvantage, rather, it was like opposite poles attracting each other.
When they first met, Mouli was strictly vegetarian, a rare trait among Bengalis. Mazher, on the other hand, was purely non-vegetarian, with a soft corner for chicken biryani. From language and backgrounds to eating habits, the duo had nothing in common.

Regardless of their differences, love ruled all. From co-stars, Mouli and Mazher became best friends, and soon after, their camaraderie became the talk of the town. Their story unfolded like the real-life rendition of all those Bollywood movies that show opposites attract.
Mouli Ganguly and Mazher Sayed got to know and understand each other during their seven years of courtship before marriage. Finally, on October 15, 2010, the couple officially sealed their fate by tying the knot.
Their spontaneous wedding was another filmy affair. On their visit to Kolkata during Durga Puja, Mouli and Mazher made an impromptu decision to get hitched, within hours after flying to the city from Mumbai.
According to the couple’s close sources, Mouli and Mazher had no prior plan to get married. In fact, the couple had been evading the idea of marriage for quite some time. With this simultaneous decision, they were all set for their new adventure.
Mouli Ganguly and Mazher Sayed exchanged their vows in a close-knit and low-key affair on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, surrounded only by their closest family and friends.
Irrespective of how we put it, their marriage was as much a reflection of their desire for simplicity as it was a testament to their unconditional love.
While most relationships tend to dim with time, Mouli and Mazher exceeded our expectations in this aspect as well. Even after 14 years of marriage, the two lovebirds have kept the spark alive. Theirs is a love story that grows younger and more colourful with each passing year. The duo never miss a chance to celebrate each other’s accomplishments and show each other off on social media.
After two decades, Mouli and her hubby, Mazher once again shared the screen on the Hindi serial, Janani - Ai ki Kahani. But this time, they appeared opposite each other as a romantic couple.
Talking about the same, Mouli Ganguly shared her excitement of working with her husband in an interview with IANS. The actress was quoted as saying:
“In Kaahin Kissii Roz, we were not opposite each other, so this experience is completely new and exciting…”
Mouli’s interview testifies that she and her hubby share a special bond that transcends time and borders and continues to age like fine wine. Talking about sharing the screen with Mazher Sayed, Mouli explained:
“It’s really relaxing because coming together, going home together, and getting to spend time together is so much fun. Otherwise, we usually share each other’s set stories. This time, it’s the same story.”
Mouli and Mazher are like the pieces of a puzzle that complete each other. Can you name a celeb couple with such excellent chemistry on and off-screen?
