'Border 2' Fame, Mona Singh Reveals Her Father Lost A Foot In 1971 War, 'I Am A Fauji's Daughter...'

Mona Singh, who is currently enjoying the success of her latest show, Kohrra 2, recently opened up about her experience of working on the film, Border 2 and how the movie was close to her heart. For the unversed, Mona Singh played the role of Sunny Deol's wife in Border 2. Recently, she revealed that her father was a part of the 1971 India-Pakistan war and lost a foot during the same.

Mona Singh’s father accidentally stepped on a mine during the 1971 war

Recently, the much-loved actress, Mona Singh made an honest confession during a media interaction in Mumbai, which was held on February 12, 2026. It is worth mentioning that she was accompanied by the entire Border 2 cast and crew. When asked about the film, Border 2, Mona Singh revealed that she felt an instant connection with the script as her father was also in the Army. An emotional yet proud Mona Singh was quoted as saying:

"I am a fauji's daughter and my dad fought the 1971 war."

Further, Mona Singh revealed that she could feel every emotion of the film, Border 2. She also explained that that one scene she could relate the most with was when Sunny Deol’s characters steps on a minefield. Revealing the reason behind it, Mona Singh shared that her father also stepped on a mine during the 1971 war, because of which he lost a foot. In her words:

"They stepped on a mine. My father (Jasbir Singh) lost his foot. So, the determination, the resilience, the fear, the anxiety, the pathos and pain that Simi Kaler's character carries, I think I had already lived all of that because of my father."

During the same media interaction, Mona Singh opened up about the families of Army soldiers. She explained that it is not just the soldiers who fight a war, but also their families who stand by them without knowing the future. The Kohrra 2 actress also mentioned that Border 2 is like an ode to her father and the countless military families. She concluded the conversation by appreciating the director of Border 2, Anurag Singh and stated that she loved every scene and dialogue of the film.

Border 2 is set against the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The film featured the combined effort of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy that went into winning the war aginst Pakistan. For those who do not know, Border 2 stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa and more. The war drama is directed by Anurag Singh. According to a report by NDTV, the film has crossed Rs. 426 crore worldwide.
