Mohit Suri's directed film, Saiyaara, has started a wave of new-age romance. Plus, Ahaan Panday's intense acting in his debut film was icing on the cake. It rejuvenated the cinema halls with fans going wild, yelling and crying in the movie theatres after watching the film. Not only this, the craze of Saiyaara led a man with an IV drip to the theatres. After which, the buzz started that people were paid to make these crazy theatre videos.
The constant love from the audience with fanfare videos on social media, ignited trolls as they started making funny videos claiming how makers are paying to get these reactions from people. In an interview with Zoom, director, Mohit Suri finally broke his silence on the matter and straight away denied all the allegations. He stated that he has tried to keep the film honest. He pointed out that people are under the impression they have paid for the viral videos, but they have not. The filmmaker denied the 'paid PR' floating on social media, and said:
"We have tried to be honest all through this film; people think the viral videos in the theatres were created, but we have not done that."
Not only this YRF CEO, Akshaye Widhani, also dismissed the paid video claims during an interview with India Today. He stated that those people were not planted in theatres. He added that they are genuine fans reacting with real emotions. He was quoted as saying:
"None of those people were planted in theatres. The person on a drip, the one yelling at the screen, or the guy who took off his shirt and danced – these are genuine fans reacting with real emotions. It’s funny when you start receiving calls from people telling you how much they cried, and you’re actually thanking them for it."
The producer mentioned that it was the film's emotional connection. He further added that the director was able to make people cry while watching the film, and he didn't remember when was the last time it happened.
