Superstar, Mohanlal took a strong stand against homophobia in 'Bigg Boss Malayalam 7'. Netizens and former contestants of the show have reacted to this and also lauded the actor for his action.

Mohanlal is a legendary actor of the South Indian film industry. Not only films, but he has also been part of the Malayalam TV show, Bigg Boss, hosting it successfully since 2018. Recently, Mohanlal hosted show had made a grand comeback with its new season, Bigg Boss Malayalam 7. Currently, the Drishyam actor is being lauded by his fans for all things good. In a recent episode of Bigg Boss Malayalam 7, Mohanlal called out contestant, Lakshmi for her insensitive comments and took a strong stand against homophobia.

Mohanlal slams Bigg Boss Malayalam 7 contestant, Lakshmi, for her harsh comment

Recently, Lakshmi made a harsh remark about fellow contestants Adhila and Noora, a same-sex couple on Bigg Boss Malayalam 7. She said that the duo would not be welcomed in people’s homes and also questioned their right to be on the TV show. The insensitive comment didn’t go well with the Bigg Boss Malayalam 7 host. He confronted Lakshmi by asking her who she thought was 'unworthy' of being welcomed at homes. He warned her to be careful before making such derogatory comments. In his words:

"I will welcome them to my home. You need to be careful with such comments when you’re here. What right do you have to say who is allowed in houses? If you can't stand them, leave the house, get off the show."

Former contestants of the Bigg Boss Malayalam show react to Mohanlal's take on homophobia

Soon after the video featuring Mohanlal, in which he took a strong stand against homophobia and criticised the contestant, Lakshmi, for her harsh comment, former contestants of the show rushed to the comment section and reacted to it. Bigg Boss Malayalam 5 contestant, actor and transgender activist, Nadira Mehrin commented, "Lalettan has just said what the whole society had to say." A contestant of Bigg Boss Malayalam 4, Dr Robin Radhakrishnan wrote, "Lal Sir, Goosebumps, Pwolichuu! (He nailed it)."

Robin’s fellow contestant, Riyas Salim, also shared his take on the harsh comment made by Lakshmi. Taking to his Instagram Stories, he shared the video where Mohanlal was seen taking a stand against such a nuisance. Along with the video, he penned a long note. Slamming the contestants, he also mentioned why homophobia shouldn’t be tolerated. An excerpt of the note can be read as:

"These two women (Lakshmi and Mastani) aren't merely wrong, they're actively dangerous."

Netizens laud Mohanlal for his strong stand against homophobia

Just like the former contestants of the Bigg Boss Malayalam show, netizens also reacted to the video. Sharing the video, an X user wrote,  "The criticisms of #BiggBoss are certainly valid. However, the show has also helped the LGBTQ community gain greater acceptance in our society, especially among the older demographic. That's more social change than what many full-time activists have managed to bring about in years."

Lauding the superstar for his strong take on homophobics, an X user penned, "Lalettan cooking kulasthree, sthreevirudhan and homophobics. What a guy. My respect for him has been way above the roof in the past few weeks." Another user wrote, "Not a fan of this show,& haven't yet dared to see even 1 full episode of this. But words coming like this from the mouth of a Superstar like, @Mohanlal need to be appreciated, it doesn't matter whether it's scripted or not, but he said it, that's all matters."
