The Miss Universe 2025 pageant took a frightening turn on November 19, 2025, when Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, unexpectedly slipped and fell completely off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round in Thailand. Multiple cameras captured the shocking moment, which was then shared on social media, sparking concerns about the 28-year-old ophthalmologist-turned-pageant queen.
As Henry disappeared over the edge, the segment was halted immediately, and medics rushed to her side. Moments later, an injured Gabrielle was carried by stretcher and taken to the hospital for emergency evaluation. Despite prior reassurance, she was notably missing from the main Miss Universe event, raising concern among fans. Here’s what we know so far about Miss Jamaica’s injury update.

Gabrielle, who had shown strong potential in this year’s Miss Universe pageant, saw her journey end abruptly after her sudden fall during the prelims. She was rushed to Thailand’s Paolo Rangsit Hospital for emergency evaluation, where Miss Universe organisation president Raul Rocha visited her shortly after midnight. Although he initially told Jamaica supporters that she might be able to return for the finale, doctors ultimately could not provide her with the necessary medical clearance to compete.

The Miss Universe Organisation and Miss Universe Jamaica released statements reassuring fans that she is still undergoing tests to ensure a complete recovery. Doctors have now confirmed that Miss Jamaica sustained no life-threatening injuries and no broken bones. Though stable, she has not yet been discharged and remains under observation. Miss Universe Jamaica wrote in their statement on Instagram:
"The Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation wishes to advise the public that Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, experienced a fall from the main stage during the evening gown round of the preliminary competition ahead of this weekend’s Miss Universe Finals in Thailand. She was rushed to the Paolo Rangsit Hospital…she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery. We kindly ask everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care."

The audience present at the event during the preliminary round captured the now-viral moment that Henry slipped and fell off the stage after missing the edge. The clip has since taken over social media, leaving fans worried and, at the same time, enraged at the organisers for a lack of stage safety. Many of Gabrielle’s supporters noted that she had been a strong contender and urged judges to consider her earlier performances fairly.

The incident has sparked discussions about the need for improved stage safety, lighting, and rehearsal protocols in beauty pageants. Though tragic, Miss Jamaica 2025’s fate in the competition ultimately depended on her return for the final program, held on November 20, 2025. Unfortunately, she couldn’t make it to the top 20 finalists because of this accident.

To say that this year’s Miss Universe was chaotic would be an understatement. The 74th Miss Universe pageant was held in Thailand at the Impact Challenger Hall in Bangkok and was also one of the largest editions in Miss Universe history. Ever since the 121 contestants landed in Thailand, things have been chaotic and have even sparked a fallout between the contestants, judges, and the organisers.
Gabrielle’s fall came during an already turbulent week for Miss Universe. Earlier, three judges quit following disputes over finalist selection procedures, and the event faced criticism for behind-the-scenes tensions. Fatima Bosch, who won the Miss Universe 2025 title on November 21, 2025, also reached the crown after a massive fallout with the organisation’s executive, Nawat Itsaragrisil, after he publicly singled her out for missing a promotional shoot and called her “dumb”.

Nawat accused Fatima of listening only to the Miss Mexico team and tried to silence her for speaking up. The 25-year-old refused to back down. When Nawat called security on her, Fatima walked out in protest. Several delegates, including reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig, followed her despite Nawat’s warning to sit down if they wanted to stay in the competition. Miss Universe president Raul Rocha later condemned the incident, prompting Nawat to issue a public apology.

Behind all the pageant glamour, Miss Jamaica is much more than a beauty queen. Dr. Gabrielle Henry is an ophthalmologist and an active advocate for the visually impaired through her foundation. The 28-year-old’s journey resonated deeply with supporters, especially after she earned the Miss Universe Jamaica crown in 2025 on her second attempt, following a Top 5 finish in 2023. Her tragic accident cut her Miss Universe journey short once again, but fans remain hopeful she will make an even stronger return.
As the world waits for her next update, her supporters continue to pray for Miss Jamaica’s speedy and complete recovery.
