Miranda Leigh Lambert is a popular American singer, songwriter and musician. Apart from her solo career, Miranda is a member of the American country music group, Pistol Annies. Her singles, Me and Charlie Talking, Bring Me Down, Kerosene, New Strings, Gunpowder and Lead, The House That Built Me, topped the Country Songs chart.
Talking about her personal life, Miranda was first married to fellow country singer and The Voice coach, Blake Shelton. However, after a decade-long relationship, the couple parted ways. After her divorce, Miranda went on to date R&B singer, Anderson East and American singer, Evan Felkar. In 2019, Miranda announced on social media that she had married New York City Police Department officer, Brendan McLoughlin.

Out of the many relationships and link-ups Miranda had, her affair and marriage with country singer, Blake Shelton, has always garnered a lot of attention. The duo was madly in love with each other, and when their fans thought that the couple was living the best moments of their lives, they announced their divorce. What led to their divorce?

Miranda Lambert met Blake Shelton at a CMT duet concert in 2005 and felt an instant connection with him, while he was already married. She and Shelton had been paired up to perform at the CMT 100 Greatest Duets Concert and swooned to You Are the Reason God Made Oklahoma. While performing together, Miranda and Blake could feel love speaking through their eyes.

He once addressed the same, sharing that he knew he was married and couldn’t help but fall for her on stage. Miranda, on the other hand, spoke about falling for a married man and shared:

“I knew he was married. I had seen their wedding pictures in Country Weekly. I knew better, like, 'this is off-limits.' My parents are private investigators, for God's sake. I've seen this my whole life—affairs, and of all people to know better, I know better than this."
Despite being in love, Miranda and Blake didn’t start a relationship until 2006, after Blake filed for a divorce from his wife, Kaynette Williams. The divorce itself was difficult for Blake, as he spent days contemplating it. After Blake’s divorce, he and Miranda started their relationship and made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the 2007 CMT Music Awards.

Miranda and Blake were head over heels in love with one another, and he picked a big diamond ring to propose to her. But before proposing to her, Blake called her dad to ask for his blessing, then popped the question. After the dreamy proposal, Miranda and Blake tied the knot at Don Strange Ranch in the bride's home state of Texas.
As soon as their honeymoon period was over, there were rumours that all was not well in Miranda and Blake’s lives. It was reported that the couple was facing compatibility issues. But soon, Blake dismissed the rumours as baseless and stated in many interviews that he had nothing to hide from his wife. Rubbishing the rumours, Shelton told HuffPost:
“I honestly do love it. I just know, to have that kind of coverage, if I’m popular enough they want to put me and Miranda on that stuff — that’s awesome. I have an album coming out! Put my album right next to it and pick it up.”

It looks like the rumours took on their lives, and after two years, the couple announced their divorce in 2015. In a joint statement, Blake and Miranda revealed that they were divorcing after four years of marriage and that their split had already been finalised. A source close to the couple told E! News that Blake and Miranda’s busy schedules were one of the biggest reasons for their divorce.

There were many rumours of an affair and Blake often stated that the rumours didn’t matter to him. However, the long-distance marriage led to many trust issues between them. As a result, every gossip mattered to them. As per the source:
“The less time they spent together, the more they grew apart. Trust was an issue for both of them. Rumors of infidelity put stress on them. Despite denials, even just rumors of cheating are still hard to hear.”
