Michelle Trachtenberg Death: Ex Shawn Ashmore Calls Her 'Incredible' Person, Zane Carney 'Shocked'

Michelle Trachtenberg was a well-known actress in Hollywood who began her acting journey at 3. She rose to fame with roles in Harriet the Spy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, EuroTrip, Six Feet Under, Weeds, Love Bites and more. The actress was admired for her ability to play versatile roles, elegant fashion sense, fun personality and confident nature. However, her demise on February 26, 2025, shocked everyone. She was reportedly found unconscious by her mother in her New York City apartment, and an investigation has begun over it. Recently, her ex-boyfriends, Shawn Ashmore and Zane Carney reacted to her demise.

Michelle Trachtenberg's sudden demise was an unexpected shock for everyone. Her ex-boyfriend and guitarist, Zane Carney, recently took to his Instagram handle and revealed that he was shocked to hear of Michelle's passing. He shared their pictures from childhood together on the sitcom, Dave's World. Zane shared that he developed a big crush on the late actress after watching her in, Harriet the Spy and wished to make her, his girlfriend. He was surprised when she turned up as a guest on his sitcom. Recalling their fun together as kids, he penned: 

"She and I developed a truly deep and special connection. Within a few weeks, we were boyfriend and girlfriend (I know, I still can't believe it either). Michelle was my first love."

Zane further shared that he once planned her birthday and took help from his dad to play him a recording of a version of the Beatles's 'Michelle' on loudspeakers for her. Although embarrassed, the actress was left impressed with his efforts for her. Over the years, they continued to stay in touch. The guitarist revealed that he last spoke to her around October or November 2024. Expressing his condolences to her, he wrote: 

"So many others have much more to say, but I just wanted to share how much I adored Michelle and how sad I am to know that I won't be able to laugh or reminisce with her anymore. She was such a unique treasure of a soul and she will be unbelievably missed by the Carney/Heil household. We love you forever Michelle and our hearts go out to the entire Trachtenberg family."

Shawn Ashmore recalls Michelle Trachtenberg as an 'incredible' person 

Michelle Trachtenberg also dated X-Men: Days of Future Past star, Shawn Ashmore, and the couple made their relationship official in front of the world. They met at an Oscars Party, and she approached him. They dated for more than a year and parted ways in 2006. After the Gossip Girl actress's death, Shawn shared an old picture with her, expressing his sadness over her demise. Recalling her wonderful personality, he mentioned: 

"Incredibly sad to hear about Michelle's passing. She was an incredible person, and I will fondly remember the years we spent together. She was loving and quirky and would never pass up a law and order SVU marathon. My condolences to her mother, Lana and sister Irene! This is an incredible loss!"

Authorities confirmed Michelle Trachtenberg's demise on February 26, 2025. The exact cause of her death isn't known, but early investigations allege that she died of natural causes with no foul play. As per some sources of People, Michelle Trachtenberg underwent a liver transplant, and there is a possibility that it might have caused some fatal consequences. Although, an autopsy will be conducted to find an exact conclusion.
