'Melania' Review, Documentary Film Featuring The First Lady Has A Few Moments Of Brilliance

Melania, directed by Brett Ratner, has arrived in theatres on January 30, 2026. The documentary film is creating headlines as it covers the life of Melania Trump. However, the main focus is on everything that happens in Melania's life a few days before her husband Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony, who was elected as the President of the United States. The film is even trending as it marks Brett’s return to the director’s seat after around 12 years. Brett’s last film was Hercules, released in 2014.

The reactions to Melania are out now, and the reviews have been mixed so far. Critics have highlighted multiple negative points in the film. On the other hand, a few reviews on social media claimed that it was a good film, except that the pacing was slow in certain portions. Despite being a documentary, Melania does not cover everything about the journey of Melania Trump since the beginning. It simply focuses on what Melania had been planning, 20 days before the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump. Melania is busy sending invitations and doing other things. Furthermore, her staff members are looking at the arrangements that need to be made. Nothing interesting happens from the beginning until the end, with the events seemingly repeating every time.

Donald Trump appears occasionally while Melania Trump visits various places

Although Donald Trump has been an important part of Melania’s life for all these years, the President of the United States keeps his presence limited in the film. One of the sequences shows, Donald Trump calling someone on the night of the elections. But there is nothing so interesting in the part of Donald Trump that would keep viewers engaged and curious to continue watching the film. Since the title is Melania, the sole focus is only on Melania Trump.

On the other hand, audiences get a chance to witness the life of Melania Trump as she visits places that have been in the news headlines multiple times over the years. Melania Trump is seen coming out of the Mar-a-Lago club in one of the scenes, following which she arrives at the airport, standing near a plane with the word Trump appearing on top of it. Melania also enters the Trump Tower in the documentary and joins a mass for her mother at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Melania Trump’s voice is featured throughout the documentary film

While Melania has very few engaging moments, one thing that is common throughout the film is Melania Trump’s voice. Melania speaks on multiple occasions, including the moment when Jimmy Carter passed away in 2024. During this period, Melania recalls the fact that she misses her mother. Apart from this, Melania also reveals other details to the viewers, including the story behind the Capitol Building and the respect she holds for the military. Melania Trump has served as a producer of the film along with Brett Ratner, Fernando Sulichin, and Marc Beckman.
