Mel Owens' Fee For 'The Golden Bachelor' Season 2, How Much Was The Former NFL Star Paid?

Premiering on September 24, 2025, The Golden Bachelor Season 2 has revolved around the love life of former NFL star, Mel Owens. The 'bachelor' of the season had 23 women vying to be his leading lady. However, now at the finale, only two women remain, Peg Munson and Cindy Cullers. Amid the anticipation of the last episode, how much do you think Mel Owens earned for the nearly two months that he gave to the show? Here's a look at his fee as the 'golden bachelor'.

Mel Owens earned at least six figures for The Golden Bachelor Season 2

The makers of the show have always been quite tight-lipped about the paycheques of bachelors and bachelorettes. However, Amy Kaufman wrote a book called Bachelor Nation, where she revealed many tidbits about the show. One of the major revelations was how much the celebrities earn as the bachelor/bachelorette in the franchise. Amy Kaufman wrote that the talent is mostly paid in the six-figure range.

A report by AOL also suggested that Sean Lowe, the 'bachelor' of Season 17, had earned between USD 75,000 and USD 90,000. Meanwhile, Emily Maynard reportedly earned a record-breaking fee of USD 250,000 for The Bachelorette Season 8. However, these numbers are from nearly a decade ago. Around 2021, Jason Tartick shared that he was offered USD 100,000 to appear on The Bachelor. Hence, keeping these figures in mind, Mel Owens might have also been paid USD 100,000 for The Golden Bachelor Season 2. But given his popularity as a former NFL athlete, there is a high chance he was offered more.

Mel Owens will be paid for his wedding if he chooses to get married to someone from The Golden Bachelor finale

Reportedly, the stars who choose a partner on the show and agree to a televised wedding are paid extra for the ceremony, in addition to their initial fee. According to a Slate report, Sean Lowe was paid in the six figures again for his wedding to Catherine Giudici, even though they tied the knot a few years later after appearing on The Bachelor. Ahsley Herbert and J.P. Rosenbaum also reportedly received USD 250,000 for their marriage ceremony.

If Mel Owens proposes to either Peg Munson or Cindy Cullers, and gets married to his The Golden Bachelor fiancée in a publicised wedding, then he would also be making a lot more cash along with his initial paycheque. Spoiler alert: according to a recent report by The Sun, Mel Owens is engaged to Peg Munson. An insider on the production team also shared with the portal that the makers might also be planning a televised wedding for Peg and Mel, just like the one Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist had in The Golden Bachelor season 1. However, these rumours can only be confirmed after it is actually telecast who the NFL star chooses at the end of the finale.
