It's been almost a year since Sushant Singh Rajput's demise and his family, friends and fans are still coping up with the tragic loss. An actor gone too soon, Sushant was a true dreamer, who taught us Khul Ke Jeene Ka Tareeka even in his short life. Since June 14, 2020, a worldwide revolution demanding justice for Sushant has been going on with his family and loved ones fighting to know the truth behind his sudden demise. A lot have been questioned and arrested post Sushant's demise as it was the beginning of debates on drugs, nepotism, mental health and a lot of unknown sides of the glamour world.

Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters, Nitu Singh, Meetu Singh, Priyanka Singh and Shweta Singh Kirti have been at the forefront since his demise to get justice for him. When Meetu had entered the room and watched her brother, Sushant's body hanging on the ceiling, she shouted, "Gulshan tune ye kya kiya?" Then she asked the men in the house to put Sushant's body properly to bed and remove the green cloth from his neck. It has been a year since Sushant's demise and CBI is yet to come to a conclusion on the cause of his death.
While there're loved ones and fans of Sushant Singh Rajput, who are fighting for his justice and mourning his demise, some have turned 'a devastating tragedy into profits'. Calling it inhuman and slamming such people, Sushant's sister, Meetu Singh tweeted, "Unfortunately, it has come to our notice that some people are taking advantage of this situation for their own personal benefits which is an unexplainably inhuman act. All these people are required to refrain themselves from doing so." Clarifying that the Rajput family isn't supporting such profitable means, Meetu added, "We would also like to bring this to everyone's notice that the family has not authorised anyone to raise donations or funds in the name of SSR and no one has the consent to make anything about or related to SSR, be it a movie, a book or a merchandise. The family is not fond of turning a devastating tragedy into a profit and we will not allow anyone to do so."
On the pious occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 3, 2020, it was Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters, Nitu Singh, Meetu Singh, Priyanka Singh and Shweta Singh Kirti, who had missed their brother's presence on this festival of siblings. Shweta had posted a throwback picture of the siblings, where a baby Sushant could be seen surrounded by his sisters, tying rakhi to him. Shweta had captioned it, "Happy Rakshabandhan mera sweet sa baby... bahut pyaar karte hain hum aapko jaan... aur hamesha karte rahenge... you were, you are and you will always be our PRIDE! @sushantsinghrajput #happyrakshabandhan." To which, Sushant's ex-girlfriend, Ankita Lokhande had commented, "Diiiiiiiii" followed by a heart emoticon.

After Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, the netizens had targeted his sister, Meetu Singh and grief-shamed her. Some netizens had claimed that Meetu hadn't shown 'appropriate grief' after her brother's demise. Sushant's niece, Mallika Singh had hit back at the trolls and spoken in defence of her aunt. Meetu had penned a heartbreaking note for her brother, Sushant, expressing the 'excruciating pain' and void left behind by him. Sharing a picture with Sushant, Meetu had written, "Bhai, We are still in a state of shock and can't believe that you aren't there physically with us. The excruciating pain & the void you have left behind is immense and indescribable. My precious brother, my jaan,I still can't say goodbye. I will maintain our sacred bond within my heart And shall keep it alive till eternity. I will keep laughing and crying on our shared memories, Until we meet again, bhai. You will always be my pride! @sushantsinghrajput."
On Meetu Singh's post, her niece, Mallika Singh commented with a 4-point explanation to shut down the trolls. Clarifying her aunt's stance, Mallika had written four points, one of which can be read as "Clearing out some of the misunderstandings about my masi: 1. If you study up on psychology (I'm minoring in psychology at university) you'd know of a thing called "emotional numbing" by shock. You can stop feeling emotions temporarily after trauma. She compulsively refused to believe it had happened. She was the first one to hear the news from our family, she was the main shock absorber."
