Born in a Punjabi family in Chandigarh, Wamiqa is the daughter of famous author, Govardhan Gabbi. After a series of supporting roles in films like Love Aaj Kal, Mausam and Bitto Boss, Wamiqa landed her first lead role in the film, Sixteen.
Wamiqa tasted success with Punjabi films like Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22, Ishq Brandy, Nikka Zaildar 2, Parahuna, and many more. She also ventured into South Indian cinema and worked in films like Bhale Manchi Roju, Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam, Godha, and Nine.
