After completing schooling from MT. Carmel High School, Usha studied History from Yale University. It was followed by a Master’s in Philosophy in early modern history from the University of Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge Scholar. In 2013, Usha obtained her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. At the law school, Usha participated in various social welfare projects.

Usha began her professional career as a law clerk for well-known judges in the United States, including Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh. She also worked for the law firm, Munger, Tolls and Olson for six years. She had worked with high-profile clients like Paramount Pictures, The Walt Disney Company, and a few others.
