Meet The Bachelor Alum, Emily Maynard's 6 Kids, As She Welcomes Her First Grandkid At The Age Of 39

Emily Maynard became a grandmother at 39. The Bachelor alum has been over the moon about welcoming a new adorable angel to her family. As she embarks on this new journey, let's take a look at her own kids and where they are now. Emily rose to fame for her appearances on The Bachelor. However, after Brad Womack accepted a proposal on the show in 2011, they called it off after three months.

Emily returned to The Bachelorette the following year and also split from the winner, Jef Holm, before tying the knot. Nonetheless, this didn't stop her from welcoming motherhood with full force. She welcomed her first child before her reality TV debut and went on to have five more children after marrying Tyler Johnson in June 2014. Meet Emily Maynard's firstborn, Ricki Hendrick

Emily discovered she was pregnant with Ricki a few days after her then-fiance, racecar driver, Ricky Hendrick, was killed in an aeroplane crash in Martinsville, Virginia, in October 2004. Nine others also died in the crash. Emily decided to bring their little angel into the world and gave birth to her daughter in June 2005. She named her Ricki in memory of her late partner. 

To mark the 20th anniversary of Ricky's death in October 2024, Emily confessed in a poignant tribute that she sometimes feels "paralysed at age 18" due to the trauma. She shared how she didn't even recognise herself in the pictures back then. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, she penned:

"On one hand, I feel like I've changed so much and on the other, that I've been paralysed at age 18 forever. I have so many things I can't wait to tell him. I can't wait for him to meet my Tyler. I know they'll love each other, and that Ricky is so grateful for how well he's taken care of his girls. Thank you, God, for letting me be a part of his life and for allowing me the gift of being loved by him."

Emily Maynard's first child with Tyler Johnson

Emily and her husband, Tyler, welcomed their first child together in July 2015. The couple announced Jennings's arrival by sharing a photo of the new mom and her infant son cuddling in bed. Prior to Jennings' birth, Emily explained to North Carolina TV station WCCB how the couple planned to name their son.

"We're excited. I told Tyler that if he gets to pick the last name for everybody, then I should get to pick the first name, and if he wants to pick the first name, then he can take my last name and be a Maynard. He did not like that. So, we're still compromising."

Emily Maynard's third baby, Gibson

In 2016, Emily confirmed that she was expecting her third baby. During her pregnancy, Emily told E! News it felt as if she "just had Jennings last week," though she and Tyler had a good reason for having another baby so quickly. Following the birth of her son, Emily shared his name, Gibson, because it's her middle name. Gibson's own middle name is Kyle, after Tyler's grandmother's maiden name.

Emily Maynard's sons' squad expanded with Gatlin in 2017

Emily and Tyler welcomed their third child together, another little boy, in November 2017. They asked their followers for suggestions for their son's name. Commenters suggested names like Walker, Truett, Luke, Parker, Jack and Leo. However, a few days later, the couple shared that they had settled on Gatlin for their son. 

Emily Maynard's baby number five brought back girl power

The Bachelorette star confirmed she was expecting baby number five in October 2020, just two days before she actually gave birth. Emily shared that her fifth pregnancy took a toll on her physically and emotionally. This was because in the latter stages of her pregnancy, she was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. According to the Mayo Clinic, the often-temporary condition causes "sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face," making it appear as if one side of the face is drooping. 

In Emily's case, she had to wear an eye patch throughout her recovery, though she clarified that this wasn't her first experience with Bell's Palsy. The Bachelor alum shared that she had it in high school and said that she was "lucky" as very few people get it twice. She added: 

"It started with a bad headache that got progressively worse and went into my jaw. Thought it was an ear infection, but then woke up one morning and couldn't spit out my toothpaste or put on mascara. I knew exactly what it was so [the] doctor prescribed me a steroid."

Emily Maynard's youngest son was born with Down Syndrome and a colon abnormality

In November 2022, Emily welcomed her sixth baby, Jones West Johnson. At the time of their birth, they found out that he had Down Syndrome and a colon abnormality. Jones spent one month in the NICU before the family could take their baby home for the first time. However, his medical journey was far from over. Jones underwent an ostomy reversal procedure at 7 months old to reconnect his bowel. Shortly after the surgery, Emily assured her worried followers that Jones was on the mend despite the serious operation.

Emily Maynard is now a grandma!

Emily's firstborn, Ricki, announced the lovely news in August 2025 that she was pregnant with her first child by sharing a sonogram photo via her Instagram Story. She officially became a mom in January 2026 when she shared a photo of her baby in the hospital. "Best day ever," she wrote via Instagram at the time.
