Selena Quintanilla was one of the most popular singers of the mid-1990s. She was often called the 'Queen of Tejano Music', because of her soulful voice, powerful personality and blockbuster songs. In 1995, she left millions of her fans heartbroken, when she was tragically shot by a close friend. Now, even after three decades, fans continue to celebrate her legacy.
Recently, a documentary was released on Selena Quintanilla titled Selena Y Los Dinos: A Family's Legacy, which featured a rare interview by Selena's husband, Chris Perez. This has sparked curiosity about Chris among fans. Amid that, read on to know more about Chris Perez and where he is after 30 years of Selena's death.

Chris Perez is an American guitarist, songwriter and author, who is best known as the lead guitarist of the band, Selena y Los Dinos. For the unversed, the band launched the global star, Selena Quintanilla. Reportedly, he was born in 1969, in Texas, and he grew up with a strong passion for rock music. It was his talent and style that made him stand out in the Tejano music world.

Chris Perez was a young guitarist, who joined the band in the late 1980s, and soon he became very close to Selena. Slowly and gradually, their friendship turned into love, but they kept their relationship secret in the beginning. Reportedly, Selena's father worried that a romantic angle would affect her career, and because of this Chris was even fired from the band. However, the two kept dating each other. According to a report by People, Selena and Chris eloped in 1992, and in the same year in April the duo secretly got married.

In the recently released Netflix documentary, Selena y Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy, Chris Perez gave a rare interview about his life with Selena. He shared the time they spent together. During that, he mentioned how much Selena still means to him. He shared that "not a day goes by" without thinking of her and can "hear her in his head". Reportedly, Selena had written a letter for her future husband after her engagement. In the documentary, Chris has read that letter, which said:

"I'm sorry for freaking you out about wanting to get married, but I guess I'm feeling you out, trying to figure out what or should I say how much you love me. Remember I'll always and forever love you, and I miss you more as every second goes by. I love you always, Selena."
Apart from this, during an E! News’ exclusive clip from the Netflix documentary, Chris shared that, "Selena was always going, always on and I think road life started to become pretty busy, pretty hectic." For the unversed, Selena was always interested in designing and used to find time for the same. Regarding for passion for designing, Chris is quoted as saying:
"Doing the designing was something that made her happy. She would set some time aside—quiet time. She would have her sketch pads and she would start going to town. Some of our outfits that we wore onstage were drawn by her."

30 years after Selena's death, Chris continues to be a musician and a father. And even after so many years, Chris has kept Selena's memories alive in his heart. He often shares updates about his projects on his social media. He also wrote songs with his band, Chris Perez Band, which later won a Grammy award. He even wrote a memoir named, To Selena, With Love, in which he shared his memories with Selena. For the unversed, Chris remarried after Selena’s death and had two children, Cassie and Noah. However, they parted ways after a few years.
In April 2017, Chris Perez had taken to his Facebook account to share a photo of his and Selena’s marriage certificate. Along with that, he penned a special note, in which he remembered Selena and her legacy. In his note, he mentioned that it had been 25 years to their marriage and she is still alive in his heart. His note could be read as:
"On another note, it's hard to believe that today marks 25 years since Selena and I decided that the only way to be together...was to run away and get married (at 20 and 22 years old) in secret. What a rollercoaster ride that day was. Well, thank you guys (again) for keeping Selena's legacy alive."

Selena was shot to death by her friend and the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. Reportedly, Yolanda used to steal money from the fan club. When Selena and her family got to know about this, Yolanda got scared. Later, Selena met Yolanda at a motel in Corpus Christi to collect important business papers, when Yolanda shot her to death.
