Rukmini Vasanth is making a lot of noise because of her role as 'Princess Kankavathi' in Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1. The talented actress is best known for her work in the South Indian movie domain, especially Kannada cinema. Rukmini, back in 2023, gained a lot of fame and also received the Filmfare Critics Award in the category of Best Actress - Kannada for her character in the romantic drama Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side A and Side B. Rukmini was born in a Kannada-speaking home, and her father, the late Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, received India's highest peacetime military decoration, the Ashok Chakra. It was in 2007 when he was martyred in action when he prevented infiltrators from crossing the border in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. It was on July 31, 2007 when Rukmini lost her dad in the counter insurgency fight. Rukmini's dad was critically wounded, protected his men, fought till the end and was awarded the Ashok Chakra for his courage.

The actress, according to a Filmybeat report, believes that her dad does not just live in the medals and formal ceremonies, but is with her in her work, both on and off screen, and shares her values. She has made her mark with Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, Madharasi, to name a few. She has also been known for her role in Bagheera and Bhairathi Ranagal and has been one of the most promising stars of the south.

Rukmini's mom, Subhashini Vasanth, is a famous Bharatanatyam dancer. She had also established a foundation to support war widows in Karnataka. Rukmini had completed her education at the Army School, Air Force School, and the Centre for Learning, all located in Bangalore. She then went to London to pursue acting at the famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). After starting her career alongside M.G. Srinivas, Rukmini was also seen in Baanadariyalli, alongside Ganesh.

The actress is known for her work in Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, next to Nikhil Siddharth, and now is sharing screen space with Rishab Shetty in Kantara Chapter 1. For the actress, 'Princess Kanakavathi' has been one of the most special journeys of her life, as her character was not just about looking regal. Rukmini shared:

 "It was more about carrying a piece of our land, our folklore, and our faith in every movement. I think that's why the trailer feels so powerful, because it's the spirit of an entire culture shining through the glimpses. Kanakavathi is royal, yes, but she is also human and vulnerable. I had to surrender to her grace, but also to her grit. I can't wait for people to meet her in theatres."
