After spending years shaping the political scene of a state, it was his daughter, Rohini Acharya, who took his legacy ahead. 

For those who don't know, Rohini Acharya joined politics in 2024, when her father fielded her in the Lok Sabha elections. Recently, Rohini is grabbing a lot of attention as she disowned her family and revealed that she is quitting politics. This decision has made a lot of people curious about her and her family. Samaresh Singh is widely known as the husband of politician, Rohini Acharya. While there is not much available about Samaresh on the internet, some reports suggest that he is the son of late Ranvijay Singh, who once served as a senior income-tax official in Mumbai. Reportedly, Samaresh studied BA in Economics from Hindu College and has a Masters degree from the Delhi School of Economics. Apart from this, he also has an MBA from the Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) Business School. Samaresh got married to Rohini in 2002.

For those who don't know, Rohini Acharya’s wedding to Samaresh Singh on May 24, 2002, was a complete festival, which soon turned controversial. Reportedly, for the first time after Independence, concrete roads and electricity had reached Hichhan Bigha village. An entire school was repaired to fit Lalu and the ministers of the government. Massive security was also placed at the Chief Minister's residence. Reportedly, tens of thousands of people attended the wedding and dozens of new cars were taken from the showroom, some allegedly at gunpoint. However, the looted cars were later returned.

Rohini Acharya and Samaresh Singh tied the knot in a grand wedding ceremony. Reportedly, their wedding was no less than a festival for the villagers of Samaresh. The two got married in 2002 and the couple has three children- a daughter, Ananya Singh and two sons, Aditya and Arihant Singh. While, there is no recent report of the couple, in 2023, they were settled in Singapore and Samaresh was the Managing Director of an investment bank in Singapore.

Rohini Acharya quit politics and disowned her family

On November 15, 2025, Rohini Acharya took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to announce her decision to quit politics. In her post, she took the names of two people, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, but she added that she is taking all the blame of it. The announcement immediately drew a lot of attention and made people curious about what happened to her. Her X post could be read as:

"I’m quitting politics, and I’m disowning my family. This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do, and I’m taking all the blame."

Rohini Acharya was reportedly born on January 5, 1980, in Patna. For the unversed, she is the daughter of Lalu Yadav. Reportedly, Rohini completed her early education in Patna and later studied at the Bishop's Convent in Ranchi. After schooling, she earned a MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College in Jamshedpur. Rohini has once told Dainik Bhaskar that she was born as ‘Rohini Nakshatra’, but later Rohini’s father, Lalu changed it to Rohini Achari. However, when Rohini was teased because her surname, 'Achari; was similar to pickle, she changed her name to Rohini Acharya.
