Raveena Tandon is a well-known name in the glamour world. The 90s queen swooned many hearts with her thumkas and was one of the most promising actresses of her time. She made a comeback into acting in 2022 with a poignant role in K.G.F: Chapter 2, which turned out to be a blockbuster. Raveena also made her OTT debut with the web series, Aranayak.
Though Raveena’s popularity knows no bounds, her husband, Anil Thadani, is no less. The businessman is one of the leading names in the Entertainment industry. Anil recently gained wide recognition for acquiring the theatrical rights of Pushpa 2: The Rule. Anil has invested in some of the highest-grossing films. Let us look at some of the unknown facts about the business maverick and his journey as a film distributor.

Anil Thadani was born into a family that has been in the film distribution business for decades. He is the son of Kundan Thadani and entered his family business. Anil founded AA Films, a non-studio distribution firm, in 1993 and emerged as a successful distributor.
Anil shares a cordial bond with filmmakers and when Aditya Chopra decided to make DDLJ, he decided to distribute the film. DDLJ’s success gave him the much-needed confidence and there was no looking back since then. In an interview with The Economic Times, Anil spoke about his business and said:
“My family was into the distribution business for a long time. I learnt the ropes of the business by serving the family business. A point came where I wanted to do something on my own.”

In the film-making business, the whole distribution process is quite risky. But Anil Thadani is a game changer. He has always trusted his convictions, which have never proved him wrong. In the past twenty-seven years, Anil has backed some of the biggest blockbusters, like Agneepath, Baahubali and K.G.F franchises, Aashiqui 2, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy, Raazi, and Kantara.

Anil Thadani follows his conviction while backing a film and his experience in the business too comes handy to him. Talking about his strategy to The Economic Times, Anil shared:
“I follow a simple strategy. If I enjoy watching a film I select the film for distribution. I don't have a formula for selecting a film for distribution. Most successful directors in the industry have been my friends and I am familiar with their works. I follow my instincts."
Anil Thadani recently garnered a lot of limelight when he acquired the theatrical rights of Pushpa: The Rule, starring South Indian sensation Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. Anil acquired the rights for Rs. 200 crore, and the reports also claimed that the digital rights were sold to Netflix for Rs. 100 crore.
In addition, Anil’s company has acquired the rights of other highly anticipated films, such as Kalki 2898 AD and Devara: Part 1. According to several reports, Anil acquired the theatrical rights for Devera: Part 1 for Rs. 50 crores and the pan-India project Kalki 2898 AD for Rs. 100 crores.

Anil Thadani met actress, Raveena Tandon in 2003 while filming a sports drama, Stumped. The film marked Raveena’s debut as a producer and the duo kept their relationship mostly professional. Married to the daughter of Romu Sippy, Natasha Sippy, Anil was going through a rough patch in his life and Raveena too was heartbroken after her failed relationships. Soon after parting ways with Natasha, Anil started dating Raveena. On the eve of Raveena’s birthday, Anil proposed to her, and she said ‘yes’!
After keeping their relationship low-key for some months, Anil and Raveena got married on February 22, 2004, in a grand ceremony in Udaipur. With the arrival of their kids, Rasha Thadani and Ranbirvardhan Thadani, Anil and Raveena embraced parenthood.
In an industry where success is uncertain, Anil Thadani is one of the biggest risk-takers. With his conviction, he took his business to great heights.
