Rajdeep is one of the most popular names in the field of journalism and is hailed for his honest reporting over the years. However, the journalist is leading the headlines ever since his recent statement has triggered widespread outrage. A video of Rajdeep is doing rounds on social media, in which the veteran journalist suggested that India should consider handing over Pakistan-occupied J&K (PoJK) to Pakistan.
He also emphasised on recognising the Line of Control (LoC) as the international border. Rajdeep’s suggestion to get a permanent solution to avoid a dispute with Pakistan came as a shock to many. Rajdeep’s comment made after the dreaded Pahalgam attack is highly criticised and people are questioning the journalist. Born in Delhi, Sagarika Ghose did her schooling from DPS, RK Puram, and later, she did her graduation in BA History from Delhi University’s elite college, St. Stephens College. Sagarika is a recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship, which enabled her to do her postgraduation from Oxford. Sagarika completed her postgraduation in Modern History and also did an MPhil from Oxford.
Sagarika Ghose’s father, Bhaskar Ghose, was a former Director General of Doordarshan. He was also the former Secretary of the Ministry. Sagarika’s mother, Alarmel Valli is an acclaimed dancer. Not just this, the former journalist, Sagarika's aunt, Arundhati Ghose, is a former diplomat, whereas Ruma Pal is a former justice of the Supreme Court.

Sagarika began her career in Journalism in 1991 and has worked in some of the leading publications such as The Times of India, Outlook, and The Indian Express. Sagarika became the first woman to host Question Time India on BBC World. Sagarika has also worked as the deputy editor and prime-time news anchor for CNN-IBN, where she hosted shows Face The Nation, and India 360. In 2014, she resigned from her position at CNN IBN.
Sagarika Ghose is one of the most renowned names in the field of journalism. Her popular debate show, Question Time Didi, received the NT Award for Best Public Debate Show in 2013. In 2009, Sagarika received the ITA award for Excellence in Journalism, In 2013, she received the ITA Best Anchor Award from the Indian Television Academy. She was also awarded the C.H. Mohammed Koya National Award for journalism.
Apart from being a journalist, Sagarika Ghose is also a popular author. Her two biographies, Indira, India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India’s Most Loved Prime Minister, were declared bestsellers. Her other works, The Gin Drinkers and Blind Faith, too got her a lot of applause.
In 2024, she joined the All India Trinamool Congress and was elected as the party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha. On the personal front, Sagarika Ghose married Rajdeep Sardesai on April 11, 1994, and the couple became parents to two children: a son, Ishan Sardesai, and a daughter, Traini. Ishan is an ENT and facial aesthetic surgeon, while Tarini is a lawyer.
