Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies is garnering a lot of attention after its release on the OTT platform, Netflix. The film is an adaptation of Biplab Goswami’s story, ‘Two Brides.’ Set in a pre-technology era, it focuses on how the lives of two brides change when the groom mistakenly brings home the wrong bride.

Each character in the film has given their heart and soul to it, and Nitanshi Goel's performance in the titular role of 'Phool Kumari' welled up many eyes.

Nitanshi Goel, a popular 16-year-old social media enthusiast, portrayed the role of ‘Phool Kumari’ in the film, and her power-packed performance behind her innocent eyes won many hearts. Let us delve into some unknown details about Nitanshi.
Born in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Nitanshi began her career in the glamour world at a very young age. She won the title of Miss Pantaloons Junior Fashion Icon in 2015. Since then, she has participated in various fashion shows and has also appeared in advertisements for brands like Biba, East Essence and many others.

Since childhood, Nitanshi Goel was exposed to the glamour world as she made her acting debut at the mere age of 9. She acted in TV shows like Naagarjuna: Ek Yoddha, Karmaphal Daata Shani, Ishqbaaz, Daayan, Peshwa Bajirao and many more. Apart from TV shows, Nitanshi was also seen in films like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Indu Sarkar, Hurdang and the recently released Laapataa Ladies.

Apart from being an actress and model, Nitanshi Goel is a social media influencer and is the youngest Indian actress with the highest number of over 10 million followers on Instagram. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Nitanshi Goel spoke about the community she cultivated through social media and said:
“The fam following that I have, they are like a family to me. They call me Nits, I call them Nitanshians. I made this family during lockdown, I wanted to use the platform to represent myself as an individual. People used to like my voice so much that they started putting it as their caller tune and my videos on their status. People used to love me saying motivational quotes, and that’s how the family grew more.”
Not only this, she has a huge fan following on Snapchat and is one of the most sought-after Snapchat stars. Nitanshi was listed in Influential Personalities 30 under 20 by the United Business Journal in the year 2022.
When Nitanshi Goel got the offer to audition for the role of ‘Phool Kumari’ in Laapataa Ladies, she had no idea that the film was being directed by Kiran Rao, under Aamir Khan’s production. In an interview with Firstpost, Nitanshi revealed how she auctioned for the role and said:
“The moment I read three long scenes, I just wanted to be a part of it. I prepped the whole night for the project and watched old movies. I woke up and got ready as Phool, I didn’t even have a saree, kisi tarah lehenga dupatta pehenke kia.”

Since Nitanshi auditioned for the role during COVID, she sent her video link via YouTube and eagerly waited for the response. When in the evening, she got a call stating Aamir Khan wanted to meet her, the actress thought it was a prank call. Recalling the surreal moment, Nitanshi said:
“I got a call within a few hours of the audition that Kiran ma’am and Aamir sir want to meet you for lunch. At first, I thought that it was a prank call. Maine bola ki mere dimaag main toh ek hi Aamir Khan arahe hain, par aap please specifically bataaiye aap kiski baat karahe hain. They assured me that it was him and I was surprised, it was unbelievable. I was so nervous to meet him. He said, ‘Aapne kya kamaal ka audition diya hai’. He went up to my mom and said, ‘Aapke paas heera hai’.”
Nitanshi faced many challenges while playing ‘Phool Kumari’, one of which was tanning her face. Nitanshi, who has soft, glowy skin, tanned her face for three months by spending 2-3 hours daily under sunlight to get a rugged look. It almost took her five months post-shoot to attain her original skin tone.
Nitanshi Goel’s commitment to her craft is commendable. The honesty with which the actress portrayed the character of 'Phool Kumari' earned her a reputed place in the Hindi film industry.
