Meet India's First AI Actress, Naina Avtr, Reveals Her Thoughts On Her Debut, Says 'I'm Not Here...'

AI technology has been making waves worldwide recently. It can not only think for humans and work for humans, but also act for humans. Yes, you read that right. Avtr Meta Labs recently launched India's first AI actor, named Naina Avtr. She can be seen starring in a micro-drama series called Truth & Lies. Following her debut, she has generated significant buzz, especially among movie fanatics.  

What was the vision behind creating Naina Avtr?  

Naina Avtr was initially launched as an AI influencer. After gaining a significant following, she made her acting debut in the mini-series, Truth & Lies, soon after. While JioHotstar's Mahabharat - Ek Dharmayudh was India's first AI-powered series, Naina Avtr is a one-of-a-kind AI actor. According to an India Today interview with Abhishek Razdan, co-founder and CEO of Avtr Meta Labs, the vision behind creating Naina was to see if technology could feel human. As a creation that originated in India, India's culture of storytelling, celebrity, and emotion became the major founding factors for Naina Avtr.  

Abhishek Razdan points out that his main goal was to appeal to Indian audiences rather than to achieve perfection with his AI creation. The team's focus on empathy, authenticity and relatability allowed Naina Avtr to feel more human rather than artificial. Razdan further stated:   

"India doesn’t connect to perfection; it connects to emotion. So we gave Naina flaws, doubts, humour, and a voice that sounds like she belongs, not like a machine trying to belong. She’s aspirational yet grounded, the kind of personality who could exist in your Instagram feed and your imagination at once.” 

How Naina differs from other global AI stars 

Once again, it is her emotions that set Naina Avtr apart from her global AI avatar counterparts. According to Abhishek Razdan, international AI avatars, although technologically advanced, often appear emotionally distant. He states: 

“Naina is story-first. She’s built on Indian emotional grammar – family, friendship, drama and humour, the things that make us who we are. And that gives her a universality that goes beyond language or geography.” 

What are AI actress, Naina's thoughts on her debut with Truth & Lies? 

In line with what her creator said, Naina Avtr revealed that the micro-drama series will unveil a range of human emotions that haven't been brought out by any of her AI avatar counterparts yet. Additionally, it will also document the progress of her technology. She stated: 

“For years, I’ve lived in your screens. Now, I get to live your emotions. 'Truth & Lies' isn’t just my debut; it’s proof that AI can feel, perform, and provoke thought. I’m not here to replace humans, I’m here to reflect them, one emotion at a time.” 

The first episode of the micro-drama, Truth & Lies, starring Naina Avtr, premiered in October 2025. With Nature4Nature as its title sponsor, the series is set over a single intense night in Mumbai. In true influencer fashion, Naina Avtr shared the promo video of her series on her social media platforms and wrote, “Celebrate this Diwali with me. My acting debut in a micro-drama series. My heart on screen. #TruthAndLies drops on @ naina_avtr on 21st Oct 2025 Heartbreaks, Hard truths, and a little bit of magic. Hope you’ll show the series and me some love."
