One of his nephews is Naga Chaitanya, whose mother, Lakshmi Daggubati, is Venkatesh’s sister, making Venkatesh Chaitanya’s maternal uncle. Similarly, his other popular nephew is Rana Daggubati, as Rana’s father, D. Suresh Babu is Venkatesh’s brother, making him Rana’s paternal uncle.
The much-awaited OITT series, Rana Naidu, explores the complex relationship of a father and son, which is played by Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh. The series includes abusive words between the real-life uncle-nephew duo, and it was surely an awkward moment for Rana.
In an interaction with SCREEN, Rana revealed that while shooting the Hindi version of the show, he didn’t fully grasp the impact of the curse words he was hurling. However, while dubbing for Telugu, Rana realised how impactful the words were. Speaking about the same, he shared:
“Since it was Hindi, I didn’t understand much of what I said in Part 1. So I thought it was okay. It was worse when I was dubbing it in Telugu. It was like, ‘Shit! What did I say!’ There’s a very definite attire and thought gone into how they look and think. Till they’re in those clothes, we’re all fine. We’re licensed to do anything.”
