Amanjot Kaur is a star player of the Indian women's cricket team and also represents Punjab. She is a right-arm medium bowler and batswoman. Born on August 25, 2000, the cricketer is a true gem in the sports world and has proven her mettle on the field on several occasions.
Amanjot Kaur hails from Mohali, Punjab and made her cricket debut for India in January 2023 against South Africa. With her passion and grit, the young cricketer soon marked her place in the women's cricket world. However, her journey to being the lady in blue didn't come easily. So, without further ado, let's take a look at her journey so far.
Amanjot Kaur hails from an extremely humble household in Mohali. However, her love for cricket was loud, passionate, and evident from the time she was a little girl. Amanjot participated in various sports at her school, APJ Smart School, including cricket, hockey, and football. Nonetheless, cricket became her one true love. While she wanted to spend her time playing with kids in the colony, the people in her area were not as keen about a girl playing cricket with the boys.
As a result, Amanjot Kaur would often be scolded by her father, Bhupinder Singh, who was a carpenter at a workshop in Balongi. In the battle of social norms, it was her grandmother who became her support. She would secretly take Amanjot to play the sport and sit on the ground as she played with boys much older than her. Despite the difficulties, her steely resolve soon started to shape her as a polished cricketer.
While Amanjot Kaur's father's hesitation might come off to many as unsupportive, not many know how much her father, Bhupinder Singh, backed her up. Despite financial struggles, he always ensured that his daughter had everything she wanted. So, when the boys in her colony didn't let her play because she didn't have a bat, her father spent the entire night carving one for her. He supported her when she joined the cricket academy for formal training at the age of 15 and even bought her a scooter when she turned 18, so that she could travel on her own.

Amanjot Kaur dropped out of the training facility to focus on her 10th-grade exams. However, when she tried to enrol in the academy in sector 26 afterwards, all the slots for girls were already filled. Despite the lack of space, the management allowed her to bowl in the nets, which turned things for the young cricketer. She was soon spotted by Dipendar Chabbra, who suggested she train under Nagesh Gupta, a BCCI level II coach at Government Model Senior Secondary School. She practised under his guidance for the next two years and represented the school on an inter-school level as well.
Amanjot Kaur soon started representing Punjab in the under-19 and under-23 categories. However, once she moved to Chandigarh to attend college, she started playing for their team. This worked in her favour as soon the Chandigarh Cricket Association was merged with the BCCI, making her a direct affiliate and opening the doors for her big 2023 cricket debut.
All seemed well for the cricketer; her legendary 2023 debut against South Africa led the country to win by 27 runs. However, a year later in 2024, she suffered a back stress fracture, which was followed by a hand ligament injury, both hanging over her career like a sword. However, she took some time off and came back fitter, working intensely on rehab and mental strength.
Amanjot Kaur's WPL journey began as a part of the Mumbai Indians in 2023. She was bought by the team in the inaugural auction for Rs. 50 lakhs. She quickly became a fan favourite, and to add to her winnings, the Mumbai Indians also lifted the trophy for WPL that same year. In the 2025 session, she returned as a lower-order finisher and clutch bowler. Her calculated, calm, and confident demeanour soon became the key highlight of the season.
Amanjot Kaur has truly given her all to Indian cricket, and it shows every time the star is on the field. The same happened when she paved the way for India to win in the second match of the five-match T20I series against England. It was on July 2, 2025, when Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur rescued the Indian team from a shaky start with wholesome fifties, adding 93 runs to their partnership, while the bowlers held off England's chase. With the entire team's effort and Amanjot's undeniable skills, India won the match by a stellar 24 runs.
