The past few days have been a blur for Dallas Cowboys fans, and the whole NFL community is trying to decode what exactly went down on November 6, 2025, in the final few hours before Marshawn Kneeland’s death. And now, the 24-year-old player’s grieving girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, has broken her silence in her first statement since his death. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ coach has confirmed that Mancera is pregnant with her first child with Kneeland.
In the early hours of November 6, 2025, days after his first NFL touchdown, 24-year-old Marshawn Kneeland was found dead inside a portable restroom in Frisco, Texas, only minutes away from the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters. In memory of their fallen teammate, the Cowboys organisation has planned to pay numerous tributes to Kneeland for the remainder of the 2025 season.

On November 12, 2025, the team’s head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, announced during a press conference that Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, is pregnant with the couple’s first child. As reported by The Dallas Morning News, Schottenheimer said during the press conference:
"We want to make sure she's taken care of and the baby is taken care of for the rest of their lives.”

Schottenheimer added that the Cowboys organisation will support Catalina and her unborn baby with financial assistance. To help provide this aid, the organisation has established the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund, which allows people to contribute in honour of the late player’s legacy. The fund’s website reads:
"The Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund is dedicated to preserving Marshawn's legacy and extending his impact through direct support for his surviving partner and unborn heir."

According to reports, Kneeland died on the night of November 5, 2025, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, just hours after his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, made a frantic 911 call expressing fear for his life. On Monday, November 10, Mancera released her first statement, sharing a photo of her and Kneeland, remembering her ‘angel’ who was her ‘everything’. Catalina’s post can be read as:

“My sweet baby, words could never express how broken I feel, you’re my everything. I’ll love you forever, my beautiful angel.”
On November 12, 2025, Catalina posted a video carousel of Kneeland’s various moments with the Dallas Cowboys on her Facebook story. In the lower left corner of the video, she wrote:
“I will never recover from this… I love you, Marsh.”

Hours before Kneeland’s death, Catalina Mancera had tried to save the player and alerted the police that he had not been doing well mentally and could even ‘end it all’. In a police audio obtained by PEOPLE, a dispatcher could be heard saying:
"We're talking to the girlfriend. She's trying to call his agent, but we're trying to get her to call him first, but she's saying he is armed and has a history of mental illness and her quote was, 'He will end it all.' … [Kneeland’s family] received a text from him, a group text from him, saying goodbye. They're concerned for his welfare… the subject is texting his family goodbye."
Despite the concerns raised, the Cowboys player could not be saved. According to authorities, his body was discovered at 1:31 a.m. on November 6, 2025, about three hours after he had been involved in a police chase.

Kneeland’s devastated family has yet to come to terms with the Dallas Cowboys star’s unexpected demise, and they continue to raise concerns about what really went down in those final few hours. On November 8, 2025, The Daily Mail reported that the late athlete’s family believes the police had something to do with his death.

Marshawn’s cousin, Jasmine Kneeland, says something must have frightened him enough to make him run, insisting he was “not a hothead.” She believes the situation doesn’t add up, as his behaviour was completely out of character. The outlet quoted her words:
“I truly think they killed him, I truly do… Marshawn is not a violent person. He is not a hot head. Something here is just not right. Something made him really scared, and he ran. This is nothing like him at all… I mean, why would he do something like that all of a sudden? That’s not the person I know. Our family is utterly devastated.”
As the Dallas Cowboys return to the field, the grieving team has organised several tributes to honour Kneeland’s legacy. For the rest of the 2025 season, players will wear custom helmet decals and special tribute T-shirts during warmups for the Week 11 game against the Raiders and the next home game against the Eagles. A video tribute and moment of silence will be held on November 23, with his family and girlfriend expected to attend.
Sending our heartfelt condolences to Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend, his family, and teammates, as they navigate this difficult time.
